Question 176. Why sadhus carry kamandal ?  - Yogesh On 23 June 2011

In the distant past, Sadhus did not carry anything. Later, they found that they must carry something. The simplest and the most useful thing they could think of was the kamandal. There are some Sadhus who don’t carry a kamandal: they carry a haversack around one of their shoulders.

Question 177. Hello Dada, Please accept my pranam to you. My question is: I always wonder about the status of women in this world. They are always considered as weaker sex. So please explain me what is the exact difference between between a male and female in terms of physical, mental and intellectual attributes? As I know in soul level there is no sex differentiation, but still most religions have regarded the supreme soul as male, like brahma, shiv baba etc. Why so?  - Swagatika Mahapatra On 17 June 2011

Current civilization is a man-made civilization of wars and violence, hatred and strife. It is already crumbling beneath the burden of its own weight. A new civilization is to be born. It will be built by the woman-soul. Then the tables will turn. We shall have more devis than devas.

Question 178. Respected guruji,I have a son aged 13 years, his name is AKILESH. He is very much weak in his studies. He doesnot have interest in anything,he wont make any friends, show interest in his studies, he wont think about his future. I am very much worried about his future. Kindly help me or how to guide him to be a successful man in the society. I will be very much greatful for your guidelines.  - Jagbir On 29 June 2011

Dear Akilesh may not be interested in formal studies, but he must be interested in something. Find out the object of his interest and let him be proficient in it. Let the child grow in his own way. There is a man who did not—could not—take interest in the study of books. He was interested in carpentry. He grew to be a good furniture merchant. Every child comes bringing his own destiny. We should help him to work out his destiny.

Question 179. What do you think about life after death?  - Padma Kumar On 28 June 2011

I would say that there is no death.

Death belongs to the body. That which is born must die. We are not the bodies that we wear. The body is only a garment. The garment drops down: we move on.

Death is very much like the sunset. It is only an appearance. When the sun sets here, it rises elsewhere. In reality, the sun never sets.

Likewise death is only an illusion, an appearance.

For what is death here is birth elsewhere for life is endless.

Question 180. Spirituality pulls me a lot. But i dont know how to start my journey towards it. How do i meditate?  - Nisha Narang On 13 July 2011

Meditation begins with concentration. To develop concentration, one way is to take up an idea, a thought, a mantra, a word, a name (of God) and repeat it over and over again. Once you have learnt concentration, it will be easy for you to meditate.

To grow in spiritual life, whatever you do, offer it to the Lord. Let the thought of God be in the background of your consciousness all the time. Therefore learn to love God. God and God alone. Clasp God to your heart and let your hands be busy helping someone in need.
