Question 1. My mummy is suffering from gall bladder cancer that is approaching to liver She bears a pain in her back as can not sleep as straight. I am a University student and cannot spend too much money. Please advise.  - Aneesha Jain on 4 March 2010

Ayurvedic treatment has been mostly found effective in cancer cases in the form of a supportive palliative therapy. In your letter you have mentioned that your mother is having Gall Bladder Cancer with liver involvements. This has to be examined personally by a physician and only then a decision can be made, regarding its treatment strategy. Removal of Gall Bladder it self help the patient improve, if it is in the initial stage.

Question 2. I am a 40 year lady and have a tendency towards low blood pressure. Is there any ayurvedic medicine that can help me?  - Pushpa Sharma on 4 March 2010

The causes for low blood pressure are anaemia, hormonal changes, widening of blood vessels, medicine’s side effects, reduced blood volumes, heart and endocrine problems. Ayurveda relates this with “VYANA VAYU VAIGUNYAM”. Most commonly, low sodium in body and low water intake causes low blood pressure. Before taking any medicines, regular intake of fresh lime with salt or rice gruel with salt, intake of sufficient water and moderate physical activity like walking 15 -20 minutes every day may be tried. If there is no improvement, consult a physician.

Take plenty vegetables and fruits.Take equal quantity of Basan (Bengal Gram Powder) and Haldi (Turmeric powder), mix it with luke warm milk to make a smooth paste.
