Question 51. I read a lot about the beneficial effects of coconut and coconut oil. Some people are scared about cholesterol content but evidence seems to prove otherwise. I have been eating dry coconut and find it nourishing and controls hunger effectively. Considering that Indians, especially South Indians eat the less fat than is recommended, it seems to make up for it. Dry coconut with dates seems to be the perfect snack. Coconut Benefits -- "Coconut Oil differs from fats such as butter because it contains a lot of medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). They burn quickly very much like carbohydrate."  - Anish On 15 March 2010

You are absolutely right in your observations about fresh coconut, dry coconut & coconut oil. Only thing it needs to be cold-pressed (ghani) coconut oil. Coconut water is excellent too. All natural foods are good for you. Never doubt nature.

Seems to me your body is highly acidic. I am unable to give you much help until I know many things about your lifestyle & personality. Try & deal with stress the best way you know how & concentrate on eating lots of fresh seasonal organic fruits, vegetables & brown rice. Increase quantities of these foods & decrease acid-producing foods like cereals & all meats including eggs. Please also read my basic diet plan that appears on this page. Importantly, stop worrying about it.

Question 54. Miso paste is good to be added in hot soups. But what exactly is it good for ? can this be added to hot dals ?  - Nidhi Gupta On 29 June 2010

Miso is an excellent food but ensure it is organic. It can be added to hot soups & dals & to sauces for various dishes. The important thing is not to heat it. So it should be added as the last ingredient. A heated is fine so long as it is not on the fire. Miso helps in digestion & creates good bacteria that help the body keep well. And once you create a taste for it, it is delicious.

Question 55. Hi mam I have an query about my diet i am 23 years old and have a fit body but the problem is that the lower portion of my belly is little bit bulged so i want to know what should i eat and wat not. thank you.  - Kunal Baru On 28 June 2010

Follow my basic diet guideline that appears on this page & see how your belly disappears. Wearing a cotton band around it will help too, should not be too tight but should fit well. This should be done for a maximum of an hour a day. Some deep breathing exercises will help too. Soon your belly will match the rest of your fit body.
