Please follow my basic diet guideline that appears on this page. I would be able to give you a more detailed plan only after I know more about your present lifestyle & personality. However, if you did make the suggested changes, you would find that you feel better all around, a flat stomach would only be an added benefit. An important ingredient to keep the heart healthy is love.

Very difficult to suggest anything without knowing more about you. Please immediately incorporate changes suggested in my basic diet guideline that appears on this page. Then see either a good Ayurvedic doctor or a good Homeopathic one. I live in Mumbai, so I can recommend good ones here. Please follow the basic diet guideline that appears on this page. For more detailed help I would need to see your reports, know more about your current lifestyle & personality, your blood type, personal history, etc. Please see a good Homeopath or a reputed Ayurvedic doctor. The simple changes I have suggested will surely help too.

Question 59. What is balanced diet?   - Sheetal Bb On 1 July 2010

Please read my basic guideline that appears on this page. 50% of your diet should consist of organic whole grains like brown rice, wheat, ragi, jowar, etc, 20% of vegetables, 10% of dals or meats, 10% of fruits, nuts & seeds, 5% beverages with natural sugar & 5% of whatever forbidden foods you are addicted to ! These changes in your food plan, eaten as per your hunger with lots of activity & some sunshine, comprise a balanced diet.

Question 60. Hi Kavita, My wife Surbhi is suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis. She has very high heel pain and pain in knee and elbow and hip joint. Please suggest if this can be dealt with a diet plan. Heard that Starch free diet can be helpful. Please advise  - Vaibhav Rajvanshi On 4 August 2010

Diet can always help to a certain degree especially if a person has been on a mal-nourished diet. Switching to whole natural organic foods as outlined in the basic food guide on this page will invariably help. But it has to do so much with sunshine, emotional attitudes ie other forms of nourishment too. Ghee is important for women, please look for cow's ghee from an organic dairy. Ayurveda & homeopathy will surely help her but she needs to do some soul searching & see what she is being obstinate about or maybe if her pride is her problem. She needs to believe that the body is meant to be in perfect health & disease is only our body trying to tell us to correct our action. Please find an appropriate spiritual healer too for her.
