Question 31. I have been practising Macrobiotics for a few months now. It is all still new to me. Is there any Indian Macrobiotic Recipes/Recipe Books that are available for purchase online. The macrobiotic diet seem to consist mainly of Japanese dishes.   - Jyothi Sahni

Macrobiotic is not about eating Japanese food but about adapting the ideas to your lifestyle. It is a wonderful system which sounds complicated but is very simple. George Oshawa, its founder, picked up many Ayurvedic ideas during his stay in India. So there are many similarities. There is no recipe book for Indian Macrobiotic but there are a few practicing in India, including me ! Improvise & use your imagination to cook Indian foods with Macrobiotic principles. Simple, whole, natural, organic & balanced are key to a Macrobiotic approach to food & life.

Question 32. You are going great job, would like to know the diet for IgA nephropathy with normal kidney function but with heavy proteinurea and hypertension- aprt from avoiding sodium, low protein(only plant),low potassium etc, any special food which might help in cure.  - Ajay Singh

Thank you. Will need to know your present intake & other specific reports to give any advice in a situation as you have described. Replacing refined with unrefined (of your current diet) as suggested in the box will in anycase help. Brown rice is highly recommended as a balanced food for all. Please do not underestimate its value in prevention & cure.

Question 33. Hi Kavita, I've always been thin. It's my natural physique. Though I'm not too uncomfortable about this I would like a fuller physique. My question is - is it possible to change my body by changing my diet, from your experience? From my experience the answer is negative. I may work out, eat more, but it hardly makes a difference. My body just burns it off in no time. Any suggestions?  - Anand Joshi

If you are not too uncomfortable with your physique then you should be happy you have no health issues. If you rest & relax a bit more, you my find it will help. In anycase, it is a long-term plan. A balanced natural diet, loads of sunshine & good activity will give you the best possibilty for a fuller physique. Often as you grow older the body fills out but not if you tend to stress & worry a lot. I recommend not thinking about your physique too much. Often that is the best way to gain weight.

Question 34. RESPECTED MADAM, I WANT TO TAKE ORGANIC SPIRULINA AS NATURAL DIET SUPPLEMENT.IN WHICH FORM IT SHOULD BE TAKEN - CAPSULE,TABLET OR POWDER FORM AND WHAT SHOULD BE THE DAILY DOSAGE ?WHICH IS THE BEST COMPANY MANUFACTURING THIS PRODUCT ?I AM 36 YEARS OLD MALE WORKING IN PRIVATE ORGANISATION.MY WORKING HOURS ARE FROM 7 AM TO 5 PM SIX DAYS A WEEK.IS THERE ANY OTHER NATURAL DIET SUPPLEMENT BETTER THAN SPIRULINA ? PL SUGGEST. WITH REGARDS, TARUNJIT SINGH.  - Tb On 17 September 2009

It is a super supplement you have decided to take because it is a whole food, not just an extract or part of a food. Therefore it is the only one that I have been recommending. It is best taken in powder form which is sold by Conscious Food (www.consciousfood.com). Begin with just a pinch a day with honey or in nimbu-pani. You can take upto half a regular teaspoon once a day. Your body needs to get used to it because it is a powerful food. Listen to your body once you start taking spirulina. It can be had at anytime of the day with any meal you like or even without a meal. Sincerely, this is the only supplement but you can add good whole organic foods to your diet like alfalfa sprouts, flax seeds, brown rice and the like. See the Conscious Food list of natural foods to know of other healthy options. Also please read my basic guideline that is on this page.

Question 35. Kavita Mukhi Ji, I got skin allergy(Urticeria) in the month of May`09 After that I used allopathy but disease not completly subsidised some types after food taking it appears. What is the best medicine /therapy you are suggesting to me. In addition to that I got mild BP ,cholestrol what is the best therapy for over all well being. Regards Sai Srinivas Cochi  - Sai Srinivas On 18 September 2009

All problems begin in the mind & especially skin problems. Please deal with what bothers you. Get to the root cause. Homeopathy is excellent for this. Find a good doctor. Remember that within 48 hours of any medicine you should feel some change for the better otherwise change the doctor. Foodwise: do not eat the foods that you feel cause the problem & read my basic guideline. Do agnihotra (shivpuri.org) and also use its ash for your skin. It works wonders.
