Question 1. I am suffering from asthma, diabetes, hyper thyroid, aczema and urinary disorders. I shall be obliged to have your advice on my diet chart.  - Mohammad Noor on 27 September 2012

Being a thyroid patient, it would be advisable to avoid cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and spinach. Due to asthma, please avoid dairy products, especially curd, and decrease the quantity of milk in your tea/coffee.

Increase the intake of vegetables, and cut down on white sugar completely. Also avoid other refined and packaged foods.

Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Each meal should be a balance of a salad, a vegetable, a serving of protein (in the form of dal, fish or chicken) and roti. If you have rice, it should be only basmati.

In between, cut down on fried snacks completely. Do not mix fruit with food. It could be had in between food as a snack, as it kicks up blood sugar levels.

To increase vegetable content, add a vegetable soup and a vegetable juice daily.

Question 2. My wife is suffering from psoriasis. Can you suggest me the food habits good for managing psoriasis? Also suggest me the best treatment available for this skin disease  - Himanshu Kumar on 26 September 2012

Homeopathy has worked for a lot of people with psoriasis. Avoid processed food and white sugar completely. Including a bit of garlic everyday has proved to be beneficial. I would need to know the entire diet and make changes to it according to other health parameters.

Question 3. I am 39 year male. I work in office from 11 am to 8pm sitting job only. I am overweight 99 kg height 5`-10". Pls look at my diet from morning to evening as below and suggest if it needs corrections.

Tea- 7 am
breakfast 10 am- whole wheat parantha with 1 bowl curd.
Lunch 2-30- 2 Roti with vegetable and sometimes little curd
Evening tea 5pm with 2-3 biscuits
Dinner 9pm- 2 Roti with dal.

Pls suggest something if this diet lacks nutrition.
  - Divanshu K on 8 September 2012

Please add an exercise daily. If your tea includes sugar, cut it out. There is absolutely no fruit in the diet. Vegetables are very low as well. You need to add a raw salad at both, lunch and dinner. Drink plenty of water as well. Please get your vitamin levels checked. Have you gone on any diets before? Whatare your blood sugar, thyroid and cholesterol levels.

Old acne scars can be healed by regularly applying a paste of lemon juice with turmeric powder. Please see that the turmeric powder is organic.
