Question 11. I want to know about the yogic management and researches on following diseases-indigestion,hyper acidity, costipation, colitis, high and low b.p.,arthritis,spondolitis,diabetes,asthma,obesity?also tell   - Vandana Mishra

Following a dedicated yoga sadhana will help control any ailment within six weeks to three months. For the list you have compiled, you need to consult a yoga therapist and not follow suggestions over the net.

Question 12. can we do pranayama during periods  - Vid

Some schools suggest you stop pranayama during periods. Other yoga schools recommend simple belly breathing, bhramari or nadi shodhana without retention. Ideally you must stop pranayama on those days when bleeding is very heavy. And avoid breath retention completely.

Question 13. I have been performing Pranayam as suggested by Swami Ramdev for the last one month, to get relief from stress/anxiety.But I am finding it difficult to stay focussed, there are frequent distractions. Kindly suggest, what else can I do to stay focussed and get proper benefit from pranayam? Also suggest any other asans that may be helpful in the above mentioned problem.  - Hs On 28 October 2009

The focus you are talking about will come only after regular practice. Also, what most practitioners don't realise is that during pranayama you actually begin to watch the mind as it runs about. So, you must learn to take the position of the drushta or witness and not worry about forcing the mind to focus. Watching the mind is the focus.

Question 14. Dear madam, Two years back i joined yoga class and continued for about 4 months. I felt myself light and realising the benefits of the same. But while started practising sirasana , I was feeling dizziness. I consulted Neurolgoist, who examined me and says that i was affected by positional vertigo and tinitus (buzz in ears). The doctor advised me not to practice yoga. I took medicne & cured vertigo but tintus (buzz in ears) still remains. Presently i started to practise basic asanas only. Kindly advise whether vertigo and tinitus can be cured by asanas. pls advise what are the asanas to be practised to cure and what not to be practised ?  - Siva Raj On 30 October 2009

For tinnitus and vertigo u can use akhash mudra/ also called shoonya mudra. Press down middle finger with thumb, for each hand. Hold at least for five mins each time. And during the entire day about 30 min ( to cover that u can do this practice either while doing pranayama or meditation). Though vertigo resolves itself eventually, the reason why inversions are contraindicated is because vertigo is caused sometimes by ear infections. Then inversions can push the infection deeper inside. Stick to the current gentle practice. You may however focus more on the standing balancers to rectify the sense of wobbly balance. For further on tinnitus and vertigo you may check my site http://jaisivananda.blogspot.com -- I have written on the subject there also.

Question 15. I have period s some times for as long as 20 days . I have taken tests and it is hormonal disbalance. I do not want to go for HrT. What yoga exercise do I do. How ever I can do and like to do most of them .  - Ms On 25 November 2009

About hormonal disbalance, for correct yoga therapy there has to be clear evidence of either of more or less of any hormone or hyperactivity/underactivity of a gland. This is very important since the therapy will depend on which poses can activate or control a gland. Since you have not specified that, it would be difficult, even dangerous, to suggest poses now.
