Question 31. Thank you for answering my query on eating / drinking before and after Yoga practice. You mentioned if we work out in the morning we can have a beverage at most. Does that include glass of milk with a supplement such as Bournevita / complan and Chavanprash? sorry for being so specific in my question - Priyanka Patil On 11 August 2011 Yes, you can take these, instead of other beverages. Question 32. Dear Madam, I have been suffering from imbalance / vertigo for the last 3 years. Prior (1 year) to it I had a Vitamin B12 deficiency for which I had taken Psychiatric treatment. Now my only problem is that I get drifted to the right and sometimes experience more weight at the left while walking. I have consulted a ENT surgeon & Neurologist with necessary investigations like MRI scan and so. Finally they have concluded that it is Imbalance / Vertigo for which I need to do exercises 4-5 times a day. Could you kindly give me a good solution as far as Yog Abhyas is concerned(Imbalance leads me to confusion and irritation)? - Mohit Mehra On 23 September 2011 For vertigo, the best way to handle it is to learn balancing poses, standing balancing poses over a phased manner. Initially, due to problems of balance, you may to lean on a wall or something solid to gain confidence. If you put a search on the net for standing balancers you will find a whole lot of them.. Balancing poses involved doing one-legged stance-- one-legged prayer pose, standing warrior series (there are several variations), standing triangle poses, crane standing versions, leg lifts while standing, are some suggestions. They help to deal with that. Have u checked for inner ear infections and cervical problems (neck problems)... Usually both are linked to vertigo also. Question 33. I have a frozen shoulder 2 yrs and more. 3 steroid inj already given, only temporary relief. Please tell me few exercises/ yoga poses to overcome this problem . I am 56 yrs old, female with normal weight and active otherwise. - Sapna Mehta On 25 December 2012 For frozen shoulders you must engage the upper back. Shoulder rolls, shoulder circles, arm circles, shoulder shruts, tadasana, child pose are excellent and immediate relief. Sometimes shoulder pain is related to respiratory problems. See if you have a connection and try and sort it from that angle too, with some pranayama to help you deal with shoulder problems. |
