Ananda - The Pendant
by Life Positive
Rohit, Seema, and Iqbal tried their best to cheer her up.
“Come on, Carol, do come, and play with us,” they pleaded, but she would not budge.
“Hey, I have to show you my new earring. It’s amazing,” whispered Seema in her ear.
Still, Carol showed no interest.
What could the matter be?
“Carol, what is the matter? Can we help?” asked all of them. “I don’t know. You see, I have lost my pendant, which had Mother Mary and Infant Jesus on it. It was so lucky for me. My mother told me that with it, Jesus and Mother Mary will always be with me and protect me.”
Seema went running to Ananda and told him what the matter was.
After a while, Ananda came quietly to the group and looked quite vexed. Showing a crumpled photograph to the children, he explained how it was the only one he had of his dear friend.
“Surely, you can get another one,” said Rohit.
“Yes, otherwise we could scan this one after ironing it out,” said Iqbal.
“Thanks, children. I had almost forgotten that it is my friend who is important. Not his photograph,” replied Ananda, with a sheepish grin.
Carol looked up and smiled through her tears.
