Louise L Hay is clearly one of the finest transformation agents of our times. Her book, You Can Heal Your Life, has opened the window of holistic healing to millions of people across the globe.
Perhaps one of the techniques most associated with Louise Hay is the use of affirmations. More than most, Louise has highlighted how powerfully these repetitive words and statements can empower and even transform us. This book offers us affirmations for different areas of our lives such as health, fearful emotions, critical thinking, addictions, forgiveness, work, money and prosperity, friends, love and intimacy and aging.
Each section starts with a checklist of symptoms you could tick off, moves into a number of exercises you could do to balance them out, offers a range of affirmations, and then a final mega affirmation. Reading through the section on critical thinking (a weakness of mine) I got a jolt when one of the questions asked if one’s mother was critical. My mother sure was. Whew, no wonder it comes so easily to me.
She sums it up, “Cursing is an affirmation, worrying is an affirmation, and hatred is an affirmation. All of these are attracting to you that which you’re affirming. Love, appreciation, gratitude and compliments are also affirmations and will similarly attract to you that which you’re affirming.”
You choose which kind of affirmation to go for. If it is the latter, this little book could take you far.
