Book Reviews - Your daily dose of creativity
by Megha Bajaj
This book is ideal for anyone who wants to improve their minds. For it has a year-full of daily doses for minds seeking to improve themselves. Some of the quotes are common, while some are real gems. They are accompanied by cartoon-like illustrations adding to the visual appeal. However, one realises that even the most known quotes like, "Think good" or "Worry is the misuse of imagination" are extremely powerful when read repeatedly from a book like this. They act like affirmations to our known knowledge bank and enable our mind patterns to change from their negative tendencies towards the positive. Some poems and short stories are truly inspiring and open the mind in various ways. A poem on ego, for instance, says that when you feel like you are the greatest thing around, this is what you should do: "Take a bucket and fill it with water/ put your hands in it up to the wrist/ Pull it out and the hole that's remaining/ is the measure of how much you will be missed!" It was truly a humbling experience reading these lines and several insights about my own behaviour and thoughts rushed to me. Good reading can indeed lead to a good life. And if you want to make yours better do what Mahatma Gandhi suggests, "We should think over what we have read, digest it, and make it an integral part of our life!" This book will then open innumerable learnings for you.
