Life - Not by Bread Alone
by Satish Purohit
University of LP
It is clear to me that
God is in the driver's
seat at LP because I
don’t know of any
publication that
runs on as meagre
a budget. Our freelancers
come free, we always get the
right people to help us at the right
time. While the sailing often gets
rough, we always manage to bring
out the edition, the bumps notwithstanding.
Working at LP is a daily
lesson in doing with commitment
and love what many cannot do with
all the money in the world.
Satish Purohit, Deputy Editor
Mantra of goodness
Where would you
have colleagues
who are more
concerned about
your overall wellbeing
than deadlines?
Where else
would you get letters from readers
applauding you for conveying subtle
spiritual insights to them? Where
else would you have an organisation
that always places integrity
over money?
Humility, compassion, acceptance,
surrender, courage – working at
Life Positive has taught me this not
just through writing but through
the way people in the organisation
function and embody these
principles. I am really happy to be
part of Life Positive and hope its
principles take root in homes and
workplaces of all its readers in the
months ahead.
Jamuna Rangachari, Assistant Editor
Thank you, God
2011 opened new
avenues in my life.
I had never dreamt
that I would land a
job with a prestigious
magazine like
Life Positive. Above
all, I am in the magazine when LP
is celebrating its 15th anniversary. I
bow my head to God who paved my
way to Life Positive. It’s due to my
parents’ boundless blessings that
God has gifted me the opportunity
to work with Life Positive.
Nipun A. Jacob, Correspondent
LP has changed me
I have grown as a professional
and as a human
being since I joined
Life Positive in
November last year.
It is fun working
in an atmostphere
free of animosity,
debilitating competition and
office politics. Suma Varughese,
our editor-in-chief, is extremely
encouraging and generous with
praise when we get it right. I have
become more confident and more
creative because of her support. I
work with a publication that has a
spiritual-ethical basis, and I would
like to believe some of the light
from the pages I make has seeped
into my life.
I am calmer, more composed and
happier for having worked with Life
Positive.
Shreela A Nair, Senior Designer
Thank you, LP readers
I’m growing, learning
and experiencing
life anew
at Life Positive .
My three years in
Life Positive have
given me direction
and focus. I would like to be here
forever if that were possible. Life
Positive has given me an identity
of my own as a journalist and
writer. On the 15th anniversary of
Life Positive, I thank all the readers
of our magazine for their support,
which has made this possible
for me.
Asha Nayal, Assistant Editor, Hindi Life Positive
Life changer
Life Positive is a
life-changer for
me. It has changed
my perception of
life, which used to
be quite pessimistic.
However, since I joined Life
Positive, I have faced all challenges
with a positive frame of mind and
have always emerged a winner. I
don’t give up as easily as I would
earlier. I have learnt to live every
moment of my life with optimism.
I thank God for the opportunity to
work in Life Positive.
Sonu Sharma, Trainee Correspondent, Hindi Life Positive
Calm sutra
I am a graphic designer at LP and
I must admit that Life Positive
has designed my life beautifully. I
used to be short-tempered. I have
become very calm.
Thank you LP.
Vijay pal singh, Graphic Designer, Hindi Life Positive
LP is my guru
Working with Life Positive for
the last four-and-a-half-years has
made my life a positive experience.
My years here have taught me to
accept changes to
deal with them.
Joining Life Positive
was undoubtedly
an important turning
point in my
life. I would like to
take this opportunity to offer my
gratitude to Mr Aditya Ahluwalia,
the publisher of the magazine, Ms
Suma Varughese, the editor-inchief,
and Mr Venkat, the vicepresident
of the company for their
valuable advice and support.
Vijay Dhiman, Event Manager
Little did I know
When I joined Life
Positive on June 6,
2000, I did not know
that my journey with
LP would be so long.
I have worked with
many leading publications
of the country but working
with LP is an altogether new experience.
LP has changed my professional,
personal and social life. All
my colleagues are highly energised,
positive and balanced people. I get a
lot of encouragement from testimonies
of readers whose life trajectory
changed because of LP.
Laxman S Bhandari, Manager, Product Marketing
More than a workplace
Life Positive is more
than a workplace –
it is a second home.
Working for Life
Positive, I feel professionally
satisfied
and socially responsible.
It offers me tremendous
opportunities to learn, sharpen
my skills and prove my capabilities.
It gives me great pride to serve
an organisation that does so much
good for society. I continue to
be amazed by the teamwork and
energy of all my colleagues. It’s an
honour to be a part of Life Positive.
Pankaj Shukla, Regional Manager
Living the Life Positive
I handle the sales
for the magazine in
Chennai for the last
one year and am
yet to hear a single
complaint from our
clients. For me, that
in itself, is proof of the standards at
Life Positive. The letters and emails
from thankful readers reinforce my
faith. Life Positive has helped me
sail through rough patches. It also
helps that my seniors in New Delhi
and Mumbai are so encouraging.
Mangal Raj, Assistant Manager Sales
Om Shanti Om
I think the biggest
gift that Life
Positive has given
me is peace of
mind. I repeat this
to myself whenever
I meet fellow marketing
professionals who are tired
from running all those miles in the
rat race.
In my line of work it is numbers
that say whether we have performed
or not. While I would like us to do
more business because I don’t think
we are getting what we deserve, I
am happy that we are the best in
our category – non-denominational
spirituality. It has taught me that
being different, being unique is a
good way to succeed and can often
beat being the most competitive.
When you are one of a kind there
is no competition.
Issac Chettiar, Senior Marketing Executive
Life Positive is the best
I am overwhelmed
on this occasion
and the words
keep sticking in my
mouth. The principles
I have learnt
at Life Positive
have helped create what I am now.
Interaction with high-spirited
people on the job have taught me
life-skills. I am stronger mentally
and more positive in my thinking.
I sincerely hope my association with
Life Positive continues forever.
Sangeeta Reen, Executive Secretary
An aura of positivity
Life Positive has
deepened my
knowledge of spirituality
and holistic
living. I have
completed a year
at Life Positive and
these 365 days have been a journey
of self-realisation and transformation.
Through this period, I have
felt an aura of positivity encircling
me. I am very happy working with
Life Positive.
Krishan Kumar, Executive, Product Marketing
Balancing factor
I work in the complaint-
shooting
department (subscription).
One
can understand the
challenges, pressure
and responsibility that are part of
a day’s work for me. Thankfully,
the principles of Life Positive have
taught me to stay composed in all
situations. It helps me to cope with
serious situations, tackle pressure
and manage my mind.
Gurpreet Singh, Senior officer, Subscription
Positive force
I have been associated
with the magazine
for the last
three years. In this
time, I have realised
my self-worth as a
human being. My
job requires patience and good listening
skills, which I picked on my
job at Life Positive. I interact with
50 Life Positive readers every day,
many of who have become close
friends.
Anita Chandel, Tele-Marketing Executive
Ray of hope
Life Positive has
not only taught
me to work professionally,
it has
also taught me the
basics of communication.
But LP is
a ray of hope that brightens many
lives, including mine. I have made
the journey from the negative to
positive and from darkness to light.
Surbhi Roy, Telemarketing Executive
Love working here
I am part of the Life
Positive team for
the last six years. I
feel blessed being
here for such a
long time. The cooperation
extended
to me by my colleagues has to be
seen to be believed. The joy-filled
atmosphere that is a reality here is
a rarity in the corporate world. I
would rather spend my day in the
office than anywhere else.
Ambika Sharma, Assistant Manager, Accounts
LP is family
For me, the year 2002
is significant because
that is when I lost my
six-and-a-half-yearold
daughter Neha. I
was heart-broken .This
was when I became a part of the
LP family. I credit our magazine
and my colleagues with helping me
cope with the grief of my immense
loss. The insight that shines in the
pages of Life Positive ignited my
dwindling faith in God. Now, I
can understand the basic difference
between working merely for
money and working for a noble
cause.
Kamal Saini, Senior Production Executive
A few good people
In my 11 years
with Life Positive,
I have seen a conscious
effort being
made to make our workplace a fair
place for all colleagues. I am also a
supporter of the values our magazine
stands for. I feel we could all
do with a little less of religion and
much more of spirituality. Life
Positive is, in its own way, contributing
towards bringing this change.
Nitin Ade, Accounts Executive
Being an LP evangelist
I have been in charge
of administration at
Life Positive for the
last six years. I have
also been a reader of
Life Positive over the years. These
two factors have changed the way I
see life. I am so impressed with the
content that I regularly gift subscriptions
to my friends. My parents have
become loyal readers of Life Positive
and now consider the magazine an
integral part of their lives.
Rahul Kumar, Executive, Administration
Matter of pride
I would like to
congratulate Life
Positive and all
our readers on its
15th anniversary.
I feel proud to be
a part of this dedicated team. Life
Positive has helped me realise my
potential to face day-to-day challenges
and it has strengthened my
faith in God – our provider. LP is
a source of inspiration for people
of all age groups.
Dharamveer, Senior Executive, Product Marketing
My guide
I joined Life Positive
in December 2009.
My family and
I have grown to
be big fans of the
magazine. I am highly inspired by
the write-ups and try to follow the
insights expressed in the magazine.
I have learnt how to overcome trivial
challenges with ease. Life Positive
is my guru.
Dhananjay Singh, Junior executive, Product Development
God’s partners
We are a spiritual
people bringing out
a spiritual magazine
that adds beauty to
our lives as much as
it does to that of our readers. This
is a difficult time for all magazines
and we are no exception. I pray to
God that our circulation improves,
we attract more ads and, above all,
we continue to be part of this effort
to bring spiritual light to this world.
Sunil Gharkar, Circulation Executive
Not just another job
My job keeps me on the field most
days but I look forward to meeting
my colleagues
in office because the
exchanges are so
affectionate. I take
this occasion to thank
readers who have
continued to support us through
subscriptions and our advertisers too
who keep the paycheque coming.
Ganesh Sukhe, Executive, Circulation
Samosas for the soul
It gives me immense
pleasure and a sense
of belonging to
serve the LP staff
with tea, coffee and
snacks. Staff members
respect me.
Their love, care and empathy shows
how strongly we are connected to
each other. For all these years, I
consider LP my teacher, who monitors
and helps me better my life in
a hundred small ways.
Thomas Minz, Office Attendant
Lessons from lunch
I have been with Life
Positive for eight
months. I love rice
but don’t get any in
my tiffin because my mom makes
chapattis for everyone. Shreela, my
designer colleague, gets enough rice
so I get at least three spoonfuls. It
completes my meal.
Aniket Gaonkar, Office Assistant
