Life - The gift of Life
by Life Positive
He explains that eyes and tissues remain usable for a few hours after the heart stops pumping, but other organs require instant action, and is possible if the person is already in a hospital which is geared up for transplantation. Dr. Mitasha Shah of the Narmada Kidney Foundation, stresses that it is very important for family members to be aware and act. For even if an explicit letter is not given by the donor, the family can act on the donor’s behalf.
Prashant Mehta with wife: Gifting Life As of now, Prashant has networked with hospitals and organisations in Mumbai and hopes to connect the entire nation with a hotline. His dream is that eventually, somebody just needs to dial this number and the volunteer would in turn inform the nearest organisation for eye, skin and other organ donation (this would usually be in hospital). Truly, organ donation is a wonderful legacy we can leave behind. The eyes continue to see the wonders of the world, and the heart continues to sing a new song. The organs that a single person donates can give a new lease of life to many persons. Eye donation can give precious sight to two individuals. Besides, these various other parts can help repair other organs. In fact, it is possible for a single donor to donate organs and tissues that may help as many as 60 recipients.
Let us then try to give this gift to as many people as possible.
