The Prema Jyothi photographic exhibition focusing on the different social service projects of the Sathya Sai Foundation held recently at the Indira Gandhi Centre for the National Arts, New Delhi was a visual homage to this great humanitarian.

The exhibition was divided into seven sections and comprised over 175 panels depicting the many achievements of this saint.

The section devoted to the drinking water project highlighted how tapped water has been provided to thousands of homes across the Ananthpur district in Andhra Pradesh. Similar projects have been accomplished in Medak and Mahboobnagar districts and the scheme has now been extended to the tribal areas of the East and West Godavari districts in the state.

A massive Rs 250-crore operation was launched earlier this year to renovate and repair the Telugu Ganga canal which was used to supply drinking water to the city of Chennai. This massive renovation work has helped restore the canal and supply water to the parched city of Chennai.

The Foundation has helped set up two super speciality hospitals at Puttaparthi and Bangalore, which perform complicated cardiac thoracic surgeries and brain surgeries free of cost. During the last five years, the Puttaparthi hospital has conducted 450 cardiology, 29,675 urology and 31,157 ophthalmic surgeries while the hospital in Bangalore has conducted 7,437 cardiology and 6,928 neurology surgeries during the same period. The Trust is running over 100 schools providing free education to kids belonging to the lower socio-economic groups. The Sri Sathya Sai University and affiliatedcolleges provide cutting edge knowledge to students across the country. Medical facilities and schools are also being provided to poorer communities living in Africa, Europe and South America.

Service to man is service to God is a timeless saying. Saints like Satya Sai Baba confirm it with their steadfast focus on the welfare of the poorest of the poor.
