I wish I were a lovely hardy colt......

I wish I were a lovely hardy colt
Faster than wind, could I then bolt
Speeding would I trot, canter, gallop away
To the green pasture where I want to play

I wish I were a pretty white swan
Floating in a lake from cool dusk to dawn
I would take pity on the ugly little duck
Who’s dark, lonely, and without any luck

I wish I were a brave jungle boy
Playing with a friendly bear, as if it was a toy
Isn’t it fun to live with a beast?
Enjoying the life without bothering the least?

I wish I were an eagle, or a carefree seagull
Life on the land is so common and dull
Sky is the limit for anything I do
Nobody to ask me what, where and who?

I know these are only my dreams
You can’t change hard rock into streams
If wishes were horses and shadows were hares
Life would be so simple, without any cares

But God wishes me to be a male, a man
And do my duties as best as I can
No need to be a colt, swan or a seagull
Better stay a human, kind, honest, and simple.
