At 29, when other women are thinking of attaining domestic bliss, Sonia Mackwani has traversed a journey which others may take decades to complete.

Sonia Mackwani: using spiritual tools to empower street children
Recipient of several awards such as the CNBC Young Turk Transformer award, Aga Khan Youth Award for Excellence in Leadership 2008, and the Role Model Recognition Award, 2009, by the same body, she has healed scores of distressed lives through self-developed healing modalities.

A post graduate in clinical psychology and clinical hypnotherapy, she runs an NGO called Touching Lives and is founder trustee of Atmaviswas-Vidyala which is a residential rehabilitation for people who are affected by psychological disorders. At her Touching Lives workshops she helps street children to gain confidence by enabling them to recognise the power of the mind to create any reality. “Through Meta-Quantum learning modality we make children aware of their innate spiritual prowess which, when awakened, can enable them to learn any subject easily,” she says. She has also created tools such as the Master-Reconnection (union of the self with the master) and Intuitive-Bibliography (getting answers to life’s questions, by intuitively using books). She says, “I was getting aware at a very early age that this life wanted something from me and that there was more to human existence than following a career path.” Deeply spiritual, she recounts how she was guided by a voice during her psychology exams. “I was in my last year of college – writing my testing and statistic papers, when the inner voice spoke to me. It told me that if I really wished to know my purpose on earth, I needed to leave the room and sit with myself, listening to answers. I got up and picking up the paper, handed it to my teacher. Looking straight into my eyes she asked, ‘This is it?’ And I, looking straight into her eyes, replied, ‘This is the beginning.’ Outside the classroom, I turned cold. But the voice in me was profound and a series of questions and answers began between us. The voice said that my purpose in this life was to give love through serving and sharing. Since then, becoming the energy of love, has been my endeavour.”

Her journey began when she met her guru in 2006. From him and others she met on the path she learnt ancient therapies of healing such as chakra healing technique, and five senses technique which also she practices. Sonia believes in miracles, and considers it to be the theme of her life! Here is one person following her purpose in life.
