Teaching Story - The Sculpture That Sculpted The Prince

by Life Positive

Once, there was a king who was happy with life in all respects except that his only son was a hunchback. He was quite worried about this.

On his minister's advice he declared a big reward for anyone who would cure his son. However, hakims and vaidyas coming from all corners of the world could not cure him. The king was deeply disappointed. Around this time, an old woman approached the king and offered to cure his son. She asked the king to install a statue of the prince right in the middle of the courtyard of the palace where the prince played every day. She also demanded that the statue should be a true replica of the prince except that the statue should show the prince, as he would look, when he was totally rid of the hunchback. The king gave the necessary instructions. Once the statue was ready, while playing, the prince would often look at the statue. In course of time, he started identifying himself with the statue. His subconscious mind started registering and perceiving himself to be the person depicted in the statue, who could stand tall and erect without the hunch. In a year or so everyone started seeing improvement in the posture of the prince. The king was very happy. Another year followed and the prince had no trace of the hunch left.
