Teaching Story - The devotee king
by Life Positive
Every day he would worship
his deity till mid-day and never let anything
come between him and the Lord,
during that time. The neighbouring king in
the meantime came to know of this practice.
In order to capitalise on this apparent
weakness, he attacked Jayamal’s kingdom
in the early hours of day. Jayamal's soldiers
were waiting for their master’s command.
But Jayamal felt “This kingdom
was given to me by my lord and if he has
decided to take it away then I cannot do
anything. And if he wants to protect me,
then no harm can come my way.”
In the meantime Syamalasundra, the
deity, took the king’s horse, and fighting
from his side, while he sat worshipping,
alone destroyed the enemy army.
After his worship was over, Jayamal came
out to take on the enemy king. He saw
that his horse was panting and covered
with sweat. On going to the battlefield
with his army in tow, he saw the entire
army of the enemy lay destroyed. Only the
enemy king remained. The enemy king
told Jayamal about a blue warrior on a
horse who destroyed his whole army
singlehandedly.
