Anima Types
According to Carl Jung there are four major images of the anima: Eve, Helen, Mary and Sophia.
Eve – symbolises physical attraction, sex, motherhood; the image of an ordinary attractive female.
Helen – represents a more cultivated woman, with whom one shares spiritual companionship along with romantic sex.
Virgin Mary – is a bit too lofty an ideal; she lacks the more natural side of the anima.
Sophia – represents wisdom, which is closer to
life and not too virtuous. It is present when a man knows how to
love and relate to a woman, and protect himself from her devouring side.
