The love of knowledge, or so the ancient Greeks chose to define philosophy. Whether
religious or atheistic, philosophies the world over have always tried to find
a formula for human happiness and spiritual prosperity. And to this end men have
tried to utilize gathered knowledge. What is to be known? How is it to be known?
What are the instruments of knowledge? These have been some eternal queries of
traditional philosophies.
East of Eden
Reverence for the planet's ecological system and a deep respect for Mother Nature
is not a New Age phenomenon. Such sentiments have been part of eastern philosophy
for ages. Recent times, in fact, have been witness to a major comeback of such
ecology-based philosophies.
Feminism
It is regrettable
that terms like 'feminism', 'gender studies' and 'women's studies' continue to
attract suspicion and sarcasm in this day and age. Yet it's practically impossible
to summarily write off nearly half of the global population so easily. As a result,
dominant society continues to remain at an impasse till date.
Gaia
Hypothesis
Perhaps it is time to take a second look at the living
terra firma around us and see if it is not a living breathing entity whose
parts we are.
Lifescripts
There is
no denying the fact that there is a life script for each one of us. The point
is, can we change what's written in it?
Meaning
of Life
Despite
centuries of Man's continued existence on this planet, he has failed to conclusively
solve the riddle posed by two indelible facts of human existenceLife and
Death. What is Life? Religions have preached about it, philosophers have pondered
over it and ordinary mortals have lived through it. But the eternal mystery of
Life still eludes us.
New
Age
The
New Age is here. Alternative therapies, energy healing, simple living, organic
farming, spiritual quests-popular demand is rooting for an altogether alternative
and holistic lifestyle like never before. Yes, the New Age has arrived! |
