MARIA WIRTH

Maria Wirth is a German and has studied psychology at Hamburg University.

Having come to India on a short holiday, she visited the Ardha Kumbha Mela in Haridwar in April 1980. There she met Sri Anandamayi Ma and Devaraha Baba, two renowned saints. She was so impressed that she wanted to stay on and learn more about India’s spiritual tradition and has been living in India ever since. She read and reflected a lot, met many gurus and tries to live according to the tenets of India’s sages. She shares her insights into Indian tradition through articles and wrote two books in German. Her latest book (published in 2006 by Herbig) was a personal account about her 25 years in India. The subtitle translates as: “A declaration of love for India”.
