Vision Program Value Based Education
A comprehensive educational program for schools, Chinmaya Vision Programme integrates
the best in our culture and philosophy with academic education. It aims at teaching
children rudiments to help them face challenges in a positive and dynamic manner
and thereby, enable them to heartily contribute to society. The Programme draws
inspiration from Poojya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda's universal and comprehensive
vision of education.
Vidyalayas (Schools) These are run at
several centers either by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust directly or under its
guidance. Besides academic inputs, they try to sow the seeds of culture in children
to shape them into good citizens. Character formation, respect for elders, truthfulness,
etc, are encouraged and a good sense of discipline is also instilled in the young
minds.
Hari Har Vocational Schools For the poorest of the
poor, Hari Har Vocational Schools have been organized at selected centers. They
are meant to offer academic and vocational education to the villagers, to encourage
their own 'craft-industry cells', using the local raw materials to the extent
possible. The entire education is provided free with some moral lessons and scriptural
studies. The idea is to make the rural youth stand on its own legs, and reduce
the flight towards the cities with their inhuman life. Such schools have been
founded at Chinmayaranyam and Siddhabari already.
This is a correspondence course on the fundamentals of Vedanta,
specially evolved by Poojya Swamiji and meant particularly for beginners.
Tests and guidance are also provided by correspondence. Many foreigners have taken
advantage of this distance education facility.
