Phobia
is a pathological fear of a particular class of objects or situations that are
unrelated or even disproportionate to the threat they seem to present. Like obsessions
or compulsions, many people have minor phobias that cause them some distress but
do not obstruct daily life. It is only when the fear begins interfering with normal
social functioning that it demands professional help.
Child Anxiety and Phobia Program Study of obsessions in children. Includes information on treatment
strategies and kinds of phobias.
Internet Mental Health
Information on various kinds of phobias and their treatments. There
is also an on-line diagnosis system which, however, doesn't seem
to provide much insight.
