Mark Tully is a well known media person. He has attained iconic status, positioned as the Chief of Bureau, BBC, Delhi for the past twenty years. He was born in Kolkata in the year 1935 to a wealthy accountant, brought up by a strict European nanny and received his education from England. In his long standing association with the BBC he has covered innumerable disasters of all kind, in south of Asia, standing tall amidst the calamities and giving live coverage to the masses all over.
For his outstanding and courageous endeavors he has been awarded the prestigious Order of the British Empire in 1985 and the Padma Shree in 1992, which is a rare exception for a foreigner.
