Subject: suicide
I finally looked up Castenada because my girlfriend Cara was an ardent fan. I last remember taking her to the Bodi Tree book store in West Hollywood to buy his books. Then she promptly committed suicide. She tried it once before in 1978, but was discovered by her landlord barely alive under an open wondow. Unconscious from an verdose of sedatives She had pneumonia, was taken to the L.A. County hospital and survived. I tried to turn her on to Roy Masters of FHU fame but she said he was too negative. She completely involved herself in Castenada and saw herself as a warrior, and an Old Soul right down to when she moved to New Mexico along Hwy 666 and blew her brains out with a handgun. (No saving her this time.) I am not saying Castenda caused the suicide, but I am pretty doggone sure he did not help.
