| Most often, majority of Indians knowingly or unknowingly misunderstand Christianity in India. Christianity in India is not just a recent religious sect. Rather, Christianity in India is as old as Christianity itself. Christianity came to India in AD 52 itself. Christianity was taken to the European countries only at the age of discoveries i.e., 15th and centuries. It is not the religion brought by the Americans or Englishmen to India. Moreover, it is one of the Asian religions. It was originated in Palestine, and was brought to India before the end of its founding century itself. How then it can be termed as being the recent religion. The former prime minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru made the statement that, Indian Christians are part parcel to India. People who accuse the Indian Christians must open their eyes and look at the contributions of the Indian Christians to the Nation of India. Many Indian Christian Organizations did stood for the uniformity of the Indian Politics in regard to Freedom Movement and Nationalism. The modern citizens of India must be thankful to the Indian Christians and must be indebted to thank them for their massive contributions to the formation of New India Independent India. The advent of Christianity in India is an eye opening event to the rigid traditional Indians. Indian Christians are proud to be being Indians, for it rich cultural heritage. Adopting Christianity does not mean of becoming the enemy to our nation. We love our culture and do practice it as being the Christians. And by adopting Christianity we do not become foreigners. We are Indians and forever will be. |
