Affirming the impossibility of finding lasting happiness in the outer world, Anandmurti Guruma lauds Life Positive’s sincere efforts to inspire its readers to go within, and effect self-transformation
As the name goes, Life Positive has indeed been tremendously successful in achieving its goal of inspiring many to live vibrantly, think positively, and explore whole-heartedly. Congratulations to the entire team of Life Positive for putting their hearts and minds into bringing out interesting editions month after month, year after year for 20 years. With the advent of the New Age movement, it was this magazine which pioneered indepth articles on the deeper aspects of life such as philosophy, reiki, healing, chakras, and holistic living.
Man’s inherent search is for permanent happiness, but knowing no other way to fulfil this yearning, he moves outward in a futile bid for lasting bliss. One seeks eternal joy but unknowingly does everything possible to be miserable. We run after money, expect it from relationships, and get lured by the glitz and glamour of the material world. The list is never ending. And in this way one remains entangled in the vicious cycle of ignorance. Not even for a moment does one question – how can this temporal, ephemeral world give permanent happiness? It simply cannot! Yet the outward pursuit continues and the seeking never gets satiated. And this happiness never happens until one begins to move inwards, explores the inner realms and resolves to evolve. This is where sages, masters, scriptures come to our rescue, to show us the way out, to illuminate our path, to ignite the fire, to know one’s real Self.
In this context, scriptures talk about three cornerstones on the path: Shravan (listening, reading), mannan (contemplation) and nidhdhyasana (being established in uninterrupted contemplation). These three together play an imperative role in the journey of an aspirant. Here listening or reading is not merely confined to listening to words, but understanding and absorbing the meaning inherent in the words with a resolute, unwavering conviction. Then, contemplation or nidhdhyasana is not an effort to be made but the progression of right shravan and being established in it.
Knowing who we are is the ultimate goal of human existence. And once this is realised nothing else remains to be known, nothing else remains to be explored, nothing else remains to be realised. Until then there is much to learn and imbibe on this exciting journey of self-discovery. And for many, Life Positive has indeed been a loyal companion along the way, offering glimpses of immense possibilities and sparking off the yearning to nurture a deeper relationship with oneself.
So, keep up the good work. Keep motivating and inspiring. And keep illumining lives with the timeless wisdom of sages.
Love to all.
