    Thank you

    • This is not an appropriate query for our yoga expert. Love and prayers to you.

  2. Please tell us from which age onwards one can practice bhastrika pranayam?
    Thank you

    • One can practice Bhastrika pranayama after the age of 15, when they can understand how to do it safely. Usually we don’t teach pranayama to children unless there is a therapeutic need and under direct care and supervision (frequent chest infections, congestion, cough etc.). Sometimes fast breathing techniques may cause dizziness due to hyperventilation and therefore has to be taught with caution.

  4. Hi Lifepositive,

I have a 22 yr old son, who was diagnosed with the bipolar condition, this January. He was meds for about 6 months and gradually stopped taking the meds. He went into depressive state from hyper energetic state since the meds were started. But, the hyper energy levels have resurfaced back and he is unable to be normal. He is excessively agitated, argumentative, abusive to his parents and sister, insomniac conditions, kind of racing thoughts, etc. He also underwent the depressive state where he was unable to get out of his bed for good part of the day. He had already lost a semester of education, due to the initial diagnosing of his condition.

I would like to know any information that will be helpful in controlling the extreme swings (either towards the manic or the depressive) of the psychological state of mind, other than just taking the mood stabilizing medications. Usually these medications are having excessive side effects. Please advise.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

  5. My elderly uncle is having vision problem, cataract so I advised him to try Urine Therapy. However my concern is that he does take Baraclude daily for some years now because he is a Hepatitis B Carrier. Will the medication contaminate his urine that he is going to ingest with urine therapy??

Please kindly advise. Regards from Malaysia, Siew

    • Please get in touch with doctors for this.

  6. From what you describe of his symptoms and experience, I think he needs medical attention and it maybe risky to skip medication or not proceed with some treatment. Please take a second opinion or if you have faith in any other healing system, please take advice from a competent authority in that system. As far as diet is concerned, please see if he can avoid dairy products for a few months and see if it helps. Simple seated, lying movements with conscious breathing can help but we cannot prescribe any practice without seeing the person and assessing his condition. Haemoglobin levels are high because the circulation is getting affected and the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood cells is reduced. It is the body’s way of compensating. Once circulation improves, Hb levels will normalise.

    • Is it(advice) referring to me? as i asked earlier for your suggestion regarding my problems.thanks……

      Naresh kumar sen,
      30 years old.

    • From what you describe, it appears to be more related to compression in the neck area. You may have to work with some simple neck movements with breathing. Try Sitali Pranayama that helps relieve the strain in the neck region. Other gentle practices that can be learnt from a yoga therapist, ideally personalized for you. It is possible that the problem has been precipitated by stress and gets aggravated by it, observe how your neck and shoulder muscles can get tightened by stressful thoughts and negative emotions!

      • thanks mam, for your thing i want to mention my age group is 30.presently i am living in lucknow(U.P.).can you please tell me any yoga expert in lucknow under which guidance i practice yoga and get relief.

  9. can yoga help in healing of cervical spondylosis and sciatica?
    thank u

    • Yes, yoga can help heal cervical spondylosis and sciatica. Simple asana (with breath coordination) and pranayama practices adapted to each individual’s ability can address these issues very effectively. What is offered depends on the severity of the presentation, chronicity and whether the factors that aggravate the condition (poor posture, lifting weight, computer work, stress etc) are dealt with effectively. We have to remember that yoga therapy has to treat the individual and not the condition. Therefore no generic solutions can be offered, practices have to be personalised and progressively modified to address each person’s specific needs moving from pain reduction to improving functional capacity to flexibility and strength. At the same time working on stress reduction, diet and life style modification, sometimes even addressing deep rooted mental, emotional patterns maybe necessary, depending on the individual.
