The Reiki revolution
July 2016 Delhi’s Thyagraj Stadium buzzed with the collective anticipation of around 3,000 people in the morning of May 8 as each one of them waited with bated breath for ‘The Awakening’ to start. It was a scintillating affair when Rajya Sabha MP and actor Hema Malini took the stage and recounted her debut as a determined teenager who fervently believed in the power of positive thoughts. “I have been practicing reiki since past 15 years. I never had to depend upon any external support to pull myself out from trying situations; I have enough potential within me. Even today, before any performance, I channel reiki and do affirmations for a smooth and successful performance,†she said. Complimented by the m/c about her glowing looks even at her age, the actor jovially quipped, “I am going to look the same even at the age of 100 years, all thanks to my reiki practice and positive outlook.†Hema Malini, along with Life Positive’s President D R Kaarthikeyan, graced renowned naturopath Dr N K Sharma’s full-day, open to all, mass reiki healing seminar: ‘The Awakening’ organised by his Reiki Healing Foundation Trust. She was the chief guest of the event. Many prominent spiritual masters like Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni, ISKCON’s Swami Keshav Murari Das, Founder of Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement Brahmarshi Subhash Patri discoursed on the significance of leading a spiritually inclined life. Dr Sharma, after speaking on the significance of maintaining a healthy and natural lifestyle, introduced the assembly to reiki channeling. The gigantic stadium reverbated with the sound of ‘Om’ as 3,000 people sat chanting and attuning themselves to the vibrations of the cosmic energy. “One need not live a helpless life. We all have been gifted with innate extraordinary potential. We only need to awaken to it. Do not just perform rituals. Look within, become your own guru to create a great life for self and the others,†said Dr Sharma while addressing the media. This event was registered by the India Book of Records for ‘maximum attendance for a reiki seminar’.
