Traditional Medicine (TM) is the sum total of knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures. It is used to maintain health, as well as to prevent, diagnose, improve or treat physical and mental illnesses. It plays an important role in meeting demands of primary health care in many developing countries and, thus, occupies a key space in contemporary community health care. There is an increasing trend of using traditional and complementary medicines even in high income countries to supplement existing allopathic health care. On the other hand, in many low and middle income countries, traditional medicine represents affordable, accessible and available form of care and has become an integral part of primary health care.

To tap this relatively new segment in the first world countries, Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in association with Pharmexcil and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is organising a unique event called International Arogya 2017. This is the first comprehensive international exhibition and conference on AYUSH and wellness industry, scheduled from December 4 to 7, 2017 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Some of the main features of this international event are an elaborate exhibition, business-to-business meetings, farmers’ meet, exclusive session on regulatory issues and CEOs’ roundtable meet. The other important highlight of the event will be reverse buyer-seller meet, wherein more than 200 delegates from about 60 countries of Africa, Middle East, West Asia, CIS, Europe, Asia (including SAARC) as well as other developing countries are being invited.

The main objective of the International Arogya 2017 is to promote the export of AYUSH products as well as propagate AYUSH systems at global level and develop strategic partnership in the field of medical and integrated healthcare sector between India and the rest of the world.

The event will witness conducive efforts dedicated to the showcase of AYUSH products in domestic and global markets, display of herbal and organic food from eminent manufacturers, live yoga demonstrations, awareness on cultivation of medicinal plants and public awareness programs like preparation of home medicines, so that the healing powers of nature-based treatments get the right exposure and acknowledgement on an international platform.

International Arogya 2017 is a platform for participants to bring forth their knowledge of highly potential and validated systems of medicine, to exhibit the accomplishments achieved through research and development in their fields. It is also an opportunity to know more about global medicinal practices,  spread awareness about ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, unani, siddha, sowa-rigpa, and homoeopathy, and engage in interactions and networking opportunities with global experts and stalwarts.
