Attracting miracles

We can attract miracles by deepening our experiences, and expanding our consciousness, attests Megha Bajaj

Are miracles possible? I asked him 10 years ago when I met my guru for the very first time. He affirmed that it was. Ever since life has been a miracle-field – unearthing these at the right times has made life nothing short of extraordinary for me.

First, what is a miracle? To me a miracle is not about flying without wings (for you it could be), or walking on water. For me a miracle is simply the fulfillment of a desire through means that cannot be comprehended by human intelligence. For example, I want a new car for myself – a specific brand and color and go to a showroom to buy it. I wouldn’t really consider it to be a miracle because I was involved in the process of desire fulfillment. However, if I woke up one morning and fantasised about a certain car, in a certain colour – and the very same evening my father gifted the exact one to me, it would be considered nothing short of a miracle. Simply put, when things are ‘beyond’ us – it is considered to be a miracle. So how can we create miracles? The first miracle in your life – just happens. That is Life’s responsibility. Think about it – that chance meeting that changed your life forever. That coincidence that just made so much sense. That surprise of a personality who entered into your life and impacted it in such a significant way. Life has this awesome responsibility to give you a taste of its miracles first. So the first miracle happens – in fact, it happens several times until you recognize that yes, it was a miracle – because you seemingly had no role to play in what happened… it just happened.

The first miracle in your life – just happens. That is Life’s responsibility

After the first experience, life teases you a bit. It does not make its miracles so easily available or so accessible – it would lose its novelty. It is in this stage that you have to start creating miracles. How do you do so? There are two ways – by deepening your experience, and expanding your consciousness. Whichever experience is deepened – that is the one that keeps repeating. The minute you realise that life is a like a cosmic soup – miracles, opportunities and possibilities boiling over –  hold on to that thought, and the feeling of wonder, and keep pondering upon it. It sometimes gets difficult when you lose yourself in roles, chores and the general routine of life, but this is your part of the responsibility – to hold on to the miracle. The more you do, the deeper it goes within your subconscious. The deeper it goes within your subconscious, the more of its kind it attracts towards you. The second way of attracting miracles into your life is by expanding your consciousness. This can be done in your moments of quietude – time with nature, meditation. The more stillness there is within, the more aware you become of the divine nature of your being, and the interconnectedness of everything that there is – the more you allow life to create and re-create miracles for you. As you keep growing in your spiritual journey, miracles happen with such precision, such speed that life undergoes an absolute turnaround. You reach a state of being – the Buddha state – where your very thought is nothing but a command to the Universe. For now, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s start from where we can start… first, look back and think of the miracle/miracles that have already transpired. Second, deepen it. Third, give some time in a day to your spiritual growth. Wishing all of you a miraculous month of self-discovery.
