Aarohi for communities
Social entrepreneur Divya Barmecha from Mumbai has made many people access all that they need but never could access earlier. Let us know more about her and the NGO she spearheads.
Aarohi, is a community-driven initiative dedicated to ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to books, toys, education, and essential healthcare.
Under the inspiring leadership of Divya Barmecha, a multitalented social entrepreneur and lifelong learner, Aarohi works to bridge the gap between privilege and need. Divya, supported by her equally committed family, leads Aarohi with a vision rooted in compassion, inclusion, and sustainability.
Aarohi’s flagship initiatives include:
-
Setting up libraries in orphanages, tribal schools, BMC schools, NGO shelters, and even prisons — bringing the joy of books and the power of knowledge to thousands.
-
Donating toys, games, and sports equipment to special schools, hospitals, and shelters across Mumbai and Maharashtra.
-
Healthcare support through the collection and distribution of medicines and medical equipment to hospitals serving the underprivileged.
In partnership with Project Mumbai, Aarohi recently contributed to the establishment of the first-ever libraries in Byculla Jail and Arthur Road Jail, and continues to set up community libraries in public spaces across the city.
Our independent library projects have reached institutions such as:
-
Jilha Pariviksha Anurakshan Sangh Sanchalit Girls Home, Bhiwandi
-
Aditya Academy High School, Aarey Colony
-
Shri Sai Vidya Mandir, Malad
-
And many more across underserved regions.
Kudos to their work
