Let us smartly make many plans
The journey of life is always uncertain, so it makes sense to have many options to explore in life. For this, we need to keep exploring all the options that are made available to us and those that are viable in the circumstances that present themselves to us.
Having a Plan B (or even many plans) in life is crucial for several reasons. Let is explore the reasons for doing this.
1. Uncertainty is Inevitable
Jobs can be lost, relationships can change, health can decline, and opportunities can fall through.
With this, you’re not left helpless when things go wrong.
2. Reduces Stress & Anxiety
Knowing you have an alternative path gives you peace of mind.
You’ll feel more confident taking risks because failure won’t be catastrophic.
3. Increases Adaptability
The ability to pivot when needed is a key survival skill.
Those with backup plans recover faster from setbacks.
4. Avoids Wasted Time & Effort
If Plan A fails, you don’t have to start from scratch—you can smoothly transition to Plan B.
5. Opens More Opportunities
Many successful people (like Steve Jobs or J.K. Rowling) only thrived after their original plans failed.
6. Builds Resilience
Having alternatives trains you to think ahead and handle crises better.
You become mentally tougher when you know failure isn’t the end.
How to Build a Strong back up plan?
Manage finances (emergency fund = freedom to pivot).
Learn new skills (versatility = more options).
Network widely (connections can open unexpected doors).
Stay flexible (rigidity leads to breakdowns).
While doing this, we also become more talented and resilient so in a way it is a win-win situation for all. As we saw in the examples mentioned above, this way of leading life may even present certain outcomes that we could consider miraculous. In fact, we can say many miracles do take place when we are open to life with all its dimensions.
This is how the universe is designed, it rewards people who keep working no matter how life responds.
There are even some retirees who have opened new businesses and succeeded so why can’t we understand that a new beginning can be made any time in life. The unfortunate fact is people nowadays do give up too easily, which is what we should avoid. We should be open to more plans and more learning when option 1 fails. It is what we need to remember always. We need to understand that life never gives up on us if we keep going on whichever path opens or closes in the path. We do need to know nothing is fixed and therefore have many plans and options that we can explore. This does take time and effort but that it is time and effort spent well to walk on the path of resilience in life. To keep exploring till we find something that suits us in all areas.
Essentially, life is not about expecting failure—it’s about being smart enough to handle it.
