Solar powered ambulance in Europe

Europe's first solar-powered ambulance, Stella Juva, offers significant benefits by bringing fully independent, off-grid healthcare directly to remote communities. Rather than just transporting patients, it functions as a mobile clinic powered entirely by the sun.

Energy Independence and Reliability

The ambulance is designed to operate where electricity and fuel are scarce or unreliable.

Solar Power: 542 solar cells on the roof and fold-out side panels charge a 50 kWh battery, enabling a range of 715 km on a sunny day .

Continuous Operation: While stationary, it generates more energy than the medical equipment consumes, allowing healthcare workers to keep using devices even at night or in cloudy weather without needing an external power source .

Advanced Medical Capabilities

Stella Juva is equipped to perform on-the-spot diagnosis and treatment, bypassing the need to transport patients to distant hospitals .

Diagnostics: Onboard equipment includes an X-ray machine, ultrasound, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) .

Preventive Care: It features cooled storage for vaccines and testing kits for diseases like tuberculosis, which is critical for maintaining the cold chain in regions without reliable power .

Proven Impact in Remote Areas

During a field test in Narok, Kenya, the ambulance covered over 800 km of challenging terrain .

Patient Reach: In a two-day test, it proved capable of providing care to approximately 200 people 

Maternal Health: For a single outreach, it could potentially provide ultrasound scans for up to 40 pregnant women, helping to identify risks earlier in areas with high maternal mortality .

While the vehicle is currently a student-built prototype, its successful trial demonstrates a viable model for sustainable, accessible healthcare in regions with poor infrastructure .

This is an excellent step and we hope all countries follow it both for the environment and for helping all as globally everyone needs to become more responsible towards the planet to preserve it for the future and also help each other to survive holistically in the journey of our lives. In today's times it is not survival of the fittest but survival of the most compassionate that the new mantra of living together. We have understood that we need to be kind as always do that others too reciprocate in the same manner.
