Being Positive During Pandemic
Its almost three months now since we are all home quarantined. "Stay Home, Save Life" has become a slogan world wide. Having a good family, playing with kids, trying new dishes with a partner or for the family has made the lockdown the heaven period for some, but not all. The case of domestic violence, physical and mental abuse has increased at the same time. It's unfortunate to know about few people about being in depression and anxiety. With this already, the social media or the other print and electronic media just flashing the statistics of the COVID 19 cases make it difficult for some to have calm.
During such a situation, it's much necessary to have inner peace and stay positive. As its also necessary to progress and have a forward-looking approach rather than just sticking to the current situation and discussing the same thing over and again, here are my five steps to stay positive, in and out.
1. Plan for 2021 - Think, believe, and receive.
Yes. I know that it is a bit difficult to think beyond pandemic during these tough times, but if we start thinking for our future only then will we come out of the present situation. Think about how well will you be spending 2021 and yes believe that the pandemic has just vanished before November 2020. Starting making notes and trips for 2021 and dream about it. Think about it, then believe it and finally, you'll definitely receive it.
2. Help the needy around you
Helping generates positive vibes within you, the receiver, and all those who have witnessed it. As we see a plunge of economic activities has just gone down thus leading to almost zero cashflows, which has made many families move into depression. Just giving food to the people staying on the road (or on the footpath) and paying extra money to the vendors or street hawkers and maid (even though you are not calling her for help) can create positive vibes and of course, that million-dollar smile of those pure souls is worth it all. Just give it a try and revert me to your experience.
3. Talk, talk, and talk.
Talking with the closest family member, friend, or relative about everything EXCEPT COVID-19 will help increase the positivity around you. Talk about the past funny incidents, beautiful memories that you have built, and all those stupid things that you did and just forgot while growing in life and running in the race. Call the best friend of school or college and that ex-colleague you enjoyed working with and cherish the beautiful moments that you had while working or studying with them.
4. Make memories for a lifetime to cherish
It is an absolutely wrong notion that memories can only be made by visiting the world outside the house. Do things that you haven't tried yet or have just forgotten because of your busy schedule. Cook for family, have a random photoshoot at home, gardening can also be a nice idea, learning a dance form or simply try out to be a member ;) If you haven't had enough time to spend with your family just make the absolute use of it and be the lockdown worth it. Play games (indoor of course), dance with your partner, kids, and family. Put the photos and videos on social media and encourage them as well. Try loading positivity on social media to curb the negative news that has flooded the social media these days.
5. Yoga and exercise
It is quite easy these days to get demonstrating a video of right from cooking to exercise, from leaning chemistry to making portfolios. Find out videos on yoga, Zumba, or meditation and try out them at home, no worries if your gym has just shut down. Me being Gujarati by heart and soul would suggest you to try Garba at home, you can also play Garba on music system on a high volume and inspire neighbors as well if they are OK with it ;)
With the above do's at least try one each day till we are in lockdown. Being aware of the current situation is good but let's not get carried away in the negative vibes that prevent us from living a beautiful life we are blessed with in this beautiful world.
Please let me know how you felt after trying out the above things and your views on it. Also, tell me what you do to stay positive and healthy (mentally and physically). Stay positive and blessed, as this too shall pass.
Stay Healthy and safe.
Keep shining.
