Deeper Sadhana of our body
The human body is half understood. Yet in recent times there is a global interest in fitness, healing and well-being. Siddhars, masters of spirituality and the body, hinted at the siddhi of the Golden Body. They intuited and practiced the emergence of an illness-free, entanglement-free body that could absorb Divine Qualities — this they called the Golden Body.
Each human whose inner flame is lit has explored, in their own ways, the purification and development of the body — some through chakras, others through energetic healing systems, some through flowers, others through nature, herbs, medicines, and some through fitness regimens that render the body flexible and strong.
Yet many in the body’s sadhana miss entering into the realm of the matter or substance of the body. This is where purification becomes fuller, and this is where the ‘gold’ can be discovered.
What we share here is the beginning of the process to transform our body. These insights have come from the works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, especially Mother’s Agenda, which describes Her work on the cells of the body. While this level of work is advanced for many of us, a few insights have firmly landed within some of us who are researching Mother’s Agenda. Through that, certain inner practices emerged in our own sadhana and in those of others when we shared them in workshops and retreats. This article gives the basic master step of this deeper body sadhana, within which a thousand micro-practices are present and can be mastered.
There are three basic steps, which take a lifetime to enjoy and master.
Step One: Awareness Within the Body
First, we take our awareness within our body and keep it there. When we place our awareness inside, sensations open up. These indicate the quality of energies, emotions and memories absorbed within the body. A key property of the body is that it absorbs. If our body parts are not conscious and we are not ‘surrendered’ within, these entanglements get stored inside as sensations and vibrations. They create our inner ‘noise’.
Resisting, avoiding, or quickly wanting these sensations to go away is a mental reaction that entangles us further. A better attitude is to learn to be neutral. Being with our natural breath helps us here. It keeps us in the moment. Even as we experience inner reactions to pains, illness and desires present in the body, being with our breath brings us back to the first step — simply be within the body and observe sensorially.
Many are satisfied with this first step. But this is only the surface of the body. This is where a deeper sadhana can begin.
We need to learn to feel the matter or substance dimension of the body. This is obtained by shifting our attention to the density, mass and weight of the body. Then we drop within this substance, deeper and deeper, with our awareness and breath. When there is resistance, we do not push. We wait, holding the aspiration to visit the depth of our body, and soon awareness begins to descend.
One sign that you are travelling within is that the quality of sensations shifts to something quieter, and in some cases more luminous, depending on our sadhana and the presence of Grace.
The above is the first step, which can be explored and perfected.
Step Two: Connecting the Body to Higher Consciousness
The second step is crucial in the beginnings of the body’s transformation sadhana and our future progress. The body has a natural capacity to absorb. It is habitually turned toward the world and thus keeps absorbing energies from the outer world, sustained by memory imprints floating within.
Awareness placed within the body can support the body to connect to a Higher Consciousness and absorb its True Qualities — Peace, Joy, Love, Light and Delight.
While this will need detailed exploration beyond this short article, the different sources of Higher Consciousness are shared here, along with a master practice for connecting to them.
Sources of Higher Consciousness
These domains do not exist in the three-dimensional realm but beyond it:
The Inner Divinity in the depth of the heart. The Divine and this Inner Divinity are one in potency. In front of it is the Individual Soul with its unique purpose and qualities. Often this is hidden by the workings of mind, emotion and sensation. The Inner Divinity holds all pure Divine qualities.
Above the head are ranges of Divine Qualities rising to the Infinite Unity: Vastness, Silence, Void, Peace, Light, Harmony, Delight, Love.
Below the feet or within the Inconscient are also these same qualities, leading to sacred centers in the depths below, until one reaches a point where one is below and above — perhaps the first point of Oneness.
The pure substance of the body. Within each atom of the body there is Divine Light and Joy. When accessed, this may be experienced within or around the body. In the depth of the substance in any part of the body there is subtle matter — supple and lit with subtle colors.
We need to discover these domains. The first requirement is aspiration. As much or more than our desire for ice cream, tea, coffee or a cozy bed, we need to aspire to discover and be within these higher consciousnesses. Simply placing awareness in these regions with aspiration allows them, with Grace, to open. We are not to imagine. We wait with aspiration until these domains open on their own.
Step Three: The Double Waiting
The third step is simply to wait — wait and wait. Wait with a double concentration that is practiced and built:
Keep your awareness within your body, in the part you are working on.
Keep your awareness within any higher consciousness you experience in the moment.
Wait until something from the higher consciousness flows into the body. You will detect this flow and shift through inner sensations.
This is the basic master practice of deeper body work. And there are many subtle nuances to master.
Success Stories
There are many healing stories from people who practiced these with guidance. Sharing the gist of a few here:
A lady who had pain and tiny knots in her breast region due to emotional hurts saw healing and even a change in skin colour after doing these practices for six months.
A young girl who had been gang-raped, unfortunately, experienced an 80 percent reduction in the body’s involuntary convulsions after practicing these for five minutes weekly for three months.
A man who was separated healed memory wounds after practicing these over six months.
A woman who had lived with trauma, including sexual trauma, for 40 years had a fundamental breakthrough in a single day after being guided for nine hours. Her aspiration to heal was very high.
