Quantifiable End Outcome From Life Principles

Today, I want to share the wisdom nuggets from the book “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield. In a way, this short summary of the book hopes that the reader will be encouraged to pick up the book, read it, and apply these principles in succeeding in their life. So, without much ado, here’s the synopsis of the book:

Section 1. Fundamentals of Success

  1. Stop Complaining- The sooner you realize that all that we have in our lives or don’t is the result of our own efforts or the lack of it, the better. Blaming others for what’s not working in your life is going to lead nowhere. You are the master of your destiny, the captain of your ship and only you can steer it on the choppy seas and bring safely into the dock.
  2. Finding your purpose in life- Contemplate your reason for being. Identify two of your strong personality traits, next create a vision. Hence, the term “Visionary”. Ask yourself two important questions:
  1. What do you want to achieve?
  2. How much time would you give yourself to achieve it? Ensure that these are SMART goals- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound
  1. Visualize your dreams with your 5 senses. Two important tools that help visualization turn into tangible results are:
  1. Affirmations- These are positive statements that begin with I, created in the present tense, and have a tangible outcome in them e.g “I am driving my (whatever is the latest model car you want) on the highway and feeling ecstatic”. Adding feeling speeds up the manifestation process.
  2. Bring in as much specific detail as you can in the visualization; hence the sensory element of seeing it, smell it, touch it, taste it, and feel it!
  1. Be persistent- Practice, Practice, Practice. If your idea has been rejected or you have tasted failure in your projects, be persistent. Rejections are just speed bumps and there are real success stories Jack has shared in the book which I will leave up to you to discover.

Section 2. Transform yourself for Success

  1. Clear your plate of unfinished projects- Do it, delegate it, delay it, or dump it. Address half-done projects. One way is to schedule a weekend to the unfinished work. It's better to have five finished projects than 15 incomplete ones. Clean up on grudges too. Put the past in the past, forgive, and move forward. Studies have shown that chronic illnesses go away when forgiveness is practiced. I read a quote once that said- Forgive not because they deserve it, because you deserve peace.
  2. Power of positive thinking- You might think that this keeps coming up. Have trust in your abilities and move beyond your negative beliefs especially the ones where you criticize yourself constantly. To succeed, weed out the negative thoughts, feelings, emotions. Start practicing self-love, self-acceptance, and self-approval and see the inner and outer transformation yourself. By transitioning from judgment to admitting fear, to a request for action and then acknowledging love, you’ll start changing your limiting thought patterns into positive and beneficial thoughts. Of course, it’s not going to be easy; remember what we read earlier- practice, practice, practice!   I love the quote- Be mindful of self-talk, Universe is listening.

Section 3. Build Your Success Team

  1. Building a support team- There are two ways of going about it. First, the formation of a Mastermind group comprising of 6 or more experts with whom you can exchange ideas and challenges. You can schedule calls or meetings and each member 15 minutes to pose questions there. For you to succeed, each group member must have a skill you wish to succeed.
  2. Second is finding a Mentor- Jack recommends it highly. Don’t be shy to approach successful people. Most of them would be eager to share their success recipe.

               Section 4. Create Successful Relationships

Support others and they’ll support you- Create meaningful relationships by laying the foundation of truth and honesty. The appreciation of others is very important. Discover what makes them tick and then express appreciation by means of inviting them to a dinner or a pat on the back or writing a Thank you card. Be as authentic as possible. At times don’t shy away from stating the truth however also honor and thank the people who support you.

               Section 5. Success and Money

What is the definition of Wealthy? It's so much more than the cash in the bank, assets, or possessions. Wealth also contains intellectual, human, and civic facets. Besides tangible financial assets, see how your relationships, health, morals, and habits connect with how you create wealth. Also, consider your education, reputation, and skills. Another factor that’ll contribute to your wealth is to offer your time to a worthy cause. Studies indicate that those who volunteer to help others lead healthier lives.

I hope I’ve convinced you to read these “Success Principles”. Trust me this book has made many millionaires who went on to become billionaires!

What are some "Quantifiable End Outcome (QEO)" that you’ve applied in your life and made a success out of it? I invite you to share your valuable insights on the thread of this post.
