How seekers practice the art of relaxation
A holiday in the lap of nature, away from the din of the city means to me a complete relaxation. A waterfall, the sight of the lofty mountains or even the chirping of birds brings me close to Divinity and this itself, is rejuvenating for me. It facilitates introspection and meditation.

I rejuvenate by going to my native place, Alibag. I go there for the weekend, alone, away from everything a city represents and stands for. For me this represents stillness, completeness and meaning, which I imbibe. There is no rush, no place to get to, and no agenda, just living in the moment and nothing else. It’s such a liberating experience that I regret going back to my regular life.

For me, a holiday is going within, not necessarily to a different holiday spot. I find deep peace in going within and try to do so as often as possible. Inside I find freedom from all that limits me in the outside world. Whenever I have a problem I go within and relax, just be who I want to be; and more often than not, the problem solves itself. This kind of holiday needs no planning and isn’t heavy on the purse strings either!

I found that the religious pilgrimages bring about a big change in me, for the better. I have been to only three so far, over the last five years, but they hold much more significance than other holidays I have gone for in my 40 years of living. I can’t describe it, but I take home some of the energy of that place with me; and since its so positive it feels light and wonderful. I can’t wait to plan my next spiritual holiday.

When I went for my first Vipassana retreat last year, I went to understand more about myself. After completing the ten days, I felt so rejuvenated and refreshed, with a completely new perspective on life. A truly relaxing holiday-cum-spiritual adventure! I am looking forward to my next retreat, whenever that may be.

After suffering from severe back problems for almost a decade and unsuccessfully trying various remedies, I went to an ayurvedic spa in Kerala. Immediately my back improved and I was able to walk out of there without any pain. I make it a point to go there once a year, a sort of a pilgrimage for my body. Each time I return I come back much lighter and years younger. I cant think of any better definition of a holiday.
