Life is beautiful

Dear Reader,

I used to be an atheist long before I became a theist. I see a distinct difference in my attitude towards life as a result of this. As an atheist, I confused being negative with being real and rational, and being positive with being silly and impractical. However, spirituality cleared these misconceptions.

The more I meditate and stay attuned to my higher Self, the more positive and optimistic I stay despite numerous hurdles and challenges. I feel that they too are a part of the divine plan, and I simply have to do what I need to, to overcome them. They do not indicate that life is set against me.

The higher Self has a way of keeping your vision straight and clear, which your lower mind is incapable of. The veil of illusion, which otherwise seems so real and convincing, gets shredded by the sword of truth and illumination in no time. This, I suppose, is the real elixir of life. To look for light when all is dark, to keep hope lit when despair rules, to keep faith alive when all seems uphill, to keep moving even when the path is not clear.

What would life be without the trials that chisel a person’s character and create a masterpiece out of them? Without the fires that burn and purify the soul, making it radiate from the personality? Life in its totality is beautiful if we learn to embrace the hardships and challenges it throws at us. There is no life without its shares of roadblocks, pains, and troubles. But the mark of a successful person is how much more loving, compassionate, brave, empathetic, mellow, and wise they have become after undergoing these trials. Those who become angry, bitter, toxic, and critical as a result of what they had to suffer are the ones who failed to see the beauty and the purpose of these difficulties and did not use them to become better, intelligent, and stronger. Looked at in this way, nothing in life is bad, ugly, or undesirable, and perhaps our biggest opponents are our greatest friends, as they create the turning points through which we access higher dimensions of ourselves.

Isn’t the realisation heartening?

Have a happy August.
