Dear Reader,

In this issue Life Positive has taken up the less talked about subject  of coping with death. Even though I like to believe that all problems  come with a solution there are a few that engulf you like a heavy,  dark cloud from which there is no escape. Death is one of them.

Coping with the loss of a loved one is an intensely personal and  singular experience. When you’ve lost someone special, your world  loses its celebratory qualities. Holidays only magnify the loss. The  sadness feels sadder and the loneliness goes deeper. Your emotional  tank is depleted, and your physical reserves may follow. No matter  how hard you endeavour to design a beautiful life for yourself, death  can erode everything like sewwaves an imposing sandcastle.

Grieving is a process which cannot be expedited, but the journey  can definitely be made more bearable and less lonely. Bijal Maroo,  author of the lead story Death: A Comma In Consciousness, handholds  every person who has ever walked this desolate road and makes them  realise that through it all death carries a deep message - urging us to  awaken to our eternal and timeless reality.

The article A Chronicle of Miracles also touches upon the subject of  birth and death through a touching account of life’s fierce duel with  death, eventually teaching us that they are the two sides of the same  coin. One cannot exist without the other.

The travel article The Land of Music and Death, by Rashi Bunny is  about the only place in the world where death is calmly acknowledged,  accepted and in many ways celebrated. This is what we need to do.  Consider it a friend, not foe, the beginning of a new life in another

dimension, not the end of life as we know it. Enjoy the new  column and do write back to us.

Have a thoughtful April.
