Lucknow-based Ayurvedic doctor, Dr Hina Fatima, has treated several cancer patients with her HUMA therapy that is painless and affordable

Forty-five year-old Shah Feroze runs a factory of auto parts in Kanpur. Three years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue, and was treated by conventional methods. On advice of a well-wisher, he got in touch with Dr Hina Fatima of Lucknow and for the last two years has been on her medication. His condition has improved greatly except for a slight slur in his voice. He does not find words enough to appreciate Dr Hina’s good work.

Thirty-five year-old Mohammed Jameel was suffering from multiple myeloma when he was taken to King George Medical College, Lucknow for investigation and treatment in the year 1993. He was given one cycle of chemotherapy but his condition declined after that because of the adverse side- effects. He underwent HUMA therapy for cancer, in Lucknow. When I talked to Mohammed Jameel, he was at his shop, tending to his business, like any other normal person. “When I went for HUMA therapy I couldn’t even walk and was bedridden,” recalled Jameel and is all praises for Dr Hina Fatima.

Dr Hina Fatima, an Ayurvedic doctor, runs her clinic in Hazratganj where many cancer patients have found painless and affordable relief from the disease. They have even been able to achieve five and ten year cancer-free milestones. The doctor is a deeply religious person who has immense faith in the power of prayers and recently returned from Haj. Her patients are based mostly in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow in particular, and are from the lower to middle-income group. The reasons people have resorted to alternative cancer therapy are financial problems, palliation (care when cure is not possible), faith, and chemoprevention to name a few. “After the untimely demise of my father Dr SM Atiq I am carrying his mantle,” she said. She and her colleague Dr Sanjoy Kumar Pal have meticulously compiled evidence regarding the effectiveness of alternative cancer therapy called HUMA. It offers immuno-stimulatory effect.
 

Many patients are on HUMA therapy along with chemotherapy. For instance, Ashfaque Khan, chief marine engineer is normally based out of India. He was detected with cancer of the colon towards the end of 1999 and went ahead with surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. However, the side effects of the chemotherapy were too much for him to handle alone and he lost a lot of weight, and felt nauseous all the time. On the advice of a friend, he got in touch with Dr Hina and started her therapy simultaneously. “Fortunately, I began to feel much better with HUMA, my nausea disappeared and I put on some weight. I would recommend this therapy to all cancer patients,” he said.

Many doctors have also taken to this therapy. Dr Brig YP Kapoor, a dentist from Lucknow, was suffering from leukemia. He took HUMA therapy as an adjunct to conventional medicine.

Facts

• HUMA is a poly herbal therapy for cancer treatment. The medicine is derived from herbs.

• HUMA works by stimulating the immune system of the body. The goal of this therapy is to nourish, restore the balance of body functions, and rejuvenate general health.

• The medicine given in HUMA therapy is in liquid and powder form, which has to be taken twice every day. One drop of medicine has to be poured on a small piece of sugar candy and swallowed with warm water.

• The powdered medicine which is called energy powder has to be taken once/twice every day.

• Some foods to avoid are –
• Boiled rice
• Arhar and urad dal
• Potatoes
• Tomatoes
• Mangoes
• Watermelons
• Coconut water
• Bananas
• The treatment costs approximately Rs 1500 to 2000 every month.

Clinical trials

“There is no randomised clinical trial conducted with HUMA. However, roughly about 500 cancer patients try this therapy every year,” informed Dr Fatima.

Seminars participated

Dr Hina Fatima has participated in national and international seminars to present her therapy. “In Lucknow, several oncologists refer their patients to us to try HUMA therapy,” said she.

“Attending cancer seminars and presenting my findings of HUMA is more important than advertising it. Until oncologists become aware of this alternative cancer therapy, ordinary people will remain sceptical,” she concluded.
