Welcome once again to the Life Positive world. A world where problems have solutions, illnesses are curable, life is hard but meaningful, each life has a purpose, and inspiration reigns. We strive to sprinkle every issue with these qualities so that it may, in turn, heal, help and uplift you. We also strive to make sense of the present times, and how we can align ourselves to its evolutionary impulse. Which brings me to this month’s lead story where we cover a feminine model of leadership, best reflected in the role of the mother. Mothers lead by loving, caring and serving. Are we ready to emulate these high standards in other areas of endeavour such as work, politics, and civil society? The old model of the leader as a powerful, commanding, authoritarian figure has had its day. If we are to establish a harmonious and holistic world, we will need a softer, warmer and more inclusive leadership model, which, at the same time, is internally strong and powerful. All of us need to get our relationship with ourselves right if we are to get our relationship with others right. If we can solemnise this attainment with a symbolic ceremony, perhaps we will find it easier to establish boundaries, drop expectations, and prioritise our growth and happiness unconditionally.
