Once I was asked, “What do we get from life in return for many years of hard work?” I replied, “Express your life in two words, summarising all the experiences that you have had till now.”

“Pain and dejection,” was the dejected reply. 

I mention this to help you realise what it is that you are looking for in life. You need to consciously work towards positivity; otherwise, it is very easy to drift away from the true essence of life. 

As long as the innocent and vulnerable are being mistreated, something important is missing. Money, philosophy, advanced technology, knowledge, or religion fall short of the vision of one world, one community, and one truth. It leads one to search for something far more: something that is universal, to ‘know and experience’. 

The answer lies deep within your heart. Just feel the presence of ‘that’ powerful energy—Love. An incessant flow of bliss, which is all about bonding, caring, giving, surrendering, and union. All other philosophies, knowledge, rituals, meditation, siddhis, and mantras remain ineffective in transcending your false nature. All these are effective only when they are practised with love. 

History, repeatedly and loudly, has expressed the need for love through many evolved spiritual masters and messengers like the proponent of Advaita (non-dualism) philosophy Adi Shankaracharya, who shared this truth: The heart cannot be purified without the love for the Divine. He called himself a rasik—one who only enjoys the bliss of Divine Love. Saint Francis of Assisi says, “Where there is hatred, let me sow love.” The human mind, operating in a confined dimension, is unable to fathom this truth. Some treat this only as a positive thought and talk highly about it, but do not actually walk on this path. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” If that is so, why not transform your fallen, false ‘being’ into a Higher True Self? 

Come out of your shell and dive into the real world of love. This is the path of Love—maitri—propounded by the wise ones. Maitri is a ‘state of love for the Divine’. You are merged with your inner Divine. You see love within and in everything you come in contact with. Everything seems perfect as the work of the Divine. The love that you have within, would be seen in others as well. You see ‘all’ as a part of the ‘one love’. Your consciousness expands, integrating all as ‘one’. You give and grow with love. You realise that love is not a concept but an experience! Hence, remember; only love can truly change you and the world. Love alone can lead you to attaining Truth, Liberation, and God.
