CLARITY

How does  Manifestation  work

Bijal Maru demystifies the process of  manifestation for us by delineating what works  in its favour and what does not Iremember my first taste of manifesting

what I truly desired. I had been working as  a homeopath in a partnership set-up, seeing  my patients for more than a decade. However,  my situation nosedived, and I urgently sought  a new clinic. Earlier, I had read how Louise  Hay cured her cancer using affirmations. I  applied the same to my situation and found  the most conveniently located and well-lit  clinic. It housed a large waiting room and  clean washrooms. The staff was very courteous  and the rent was reasonable. It was the perfect  clinic! I was even more grateful since I was the  sole boss.

However, affirmations stopped working for  me, and the manifestation process came to a  grinding halt. I concluded that I needed to  walk, talk, eat, and sleep affirmations without  respite, for affirmations to work. This was  discouraging, and I lost faith in affirmations. I  was plagued with many questions. How come I  manifested my clinic so perfectly the first time?  Was it just a fluke or a one-time phenomenon  that we call a ‘miracle’? Why did the same  process stop working thereafter? What was I  doing wrong? What were the missing links?

Manifestation entails using our thoughts,  feelings, and beliefs to bring something into  our physical reality. So, on a logical level, it  means creating something we desire, out of thin  air. Vandana Jhangiani, a writer, blogger, and  poet explained, “The scientific or logical way of  looking at manifestation is that Consciousness  is present in every atom of the Universe. So,  when we try to connect with it by sitting in  silence and invoking its presence, it complies  and manifests itself in various ways, which, for  lack of a better word, we call ‘miracles.’ ”

I decided to dig deeper. I found that the  manifestation process has been used by many  people the world over with phenomenal  success. We too can use it to create everything  from a dream house and a dream car to the  perfect relationship and the perfect career. It  is evident that there is a science to the art of  manifestation.

And why is knowing the science of manifestation  important?

We need to know the logic and the method to  the madness, to be able to successfully replicate  manifestations every single time. I read many  books such as The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and  Expect Miracles by Joe Vitale. I also interviewed

many people to help me break down the process,  and this is what I found:   Setting a clear intention: In the book  The Secret, Bob Proctor describes how to set  an intention. He suggests writing down on  a piece of paper whatever you want. Write  it in the present tense. A nice way to start  the sentence would be, “I am so happy and  grateful now that . . . ” (e.g., I have the red  sports car of my dreams or I live in my  10-bedroom sea-facing mansion in Hawaii.)  Use this format to describe how you want  every area of your life to be.

Planting the seed: The seat of  manifestation lies in the subconscious  mind. So, we need to access the Universal  Consciousness through our subconscious  mind.

Accessing the portals of the  subconscious mind: Hitesh Vashisht,  a consciousness coach and the founder of ‘Life Here And Now’ says, “I suggest  you harness the two most important times  during the day. One is when you are about to  sleep but have not fallen asleep. The second  is when you are about to wake up from sleep,  but are not fully awake. Both these times  offer us a portal through which we can easily  connect to the inner force.”

Aparna Dedhia, a freelance content writer who  leads guided visualisations and meditations,  mentions one more window to access the  subconscious. This is the time just before  meditation. She  suggests strongly  affirming your  intention just before  getting into meditation.

Keeping the Faith:  It’s important  to believe  wholeheartedly that  you deserve what  you have set your heart on, and

the Universe  will bring it  to you. The pioneer o f  the ‘Theta Healing’ technique, Vianna  Stibal, says that one needs to have total faith  in the ‘Creator of all Things.’

Dr Trupti Jayin, a pioneer in the field of Past Life  Regression Therapy, says, “The key is ‘Trust.’  Intense and immense trust that (Universal  Consciousness) is listening to you and it loves  you so much that it will give you what you  desire.”

Meditating: I have experienced the  benefits of a regular meditation practice.  My intentions seep into the womb of the  Universe with ease as meditation has made  my mind fertile ground. Meditation keeps  the door ajar all the time, and I am always  tuned into the hotline of the Universe.  Hence, ideas, insights, and

intuitions keep  dawning on me. All I need is to put these  into action and voila! It keeps moving  me closer to my dreams.

Journaling: Divya Bajaj is a  medium who  channels  energies  through  auto - writing and Akashic  readings. She feels  that focussing  on how we

think and  feel is  key  as our  thoughts  and feelings create  the outcomes.

She uses  journaling to  stay connected  to her feelings.

Praying and expressing  gratitude: Vandana Jhangiani swears  by the power of prayer. She emphatically  states: “An attitude of gratitude manifests  miracles all the time.”

Visualising your goal: Neville Goddard,  the author of the famous book Feeling is the  Secret, emphasises that you should act as if  you have already received what you want.

Universe sends the same idea to multiple people all  over the planet. This is because the creative force knows  that most people will be paralysed by their conscious  minds. Hence, they never get around to acting on this  idea. However, the few who do act on it, are the ones who  reap the benefits and attract the success that the idea  inherently contains.

This involves visualising with such depth  that you can almost feel, touch, smell, and  taste your desire into fruition.

My sister used this technique for her CA  final exams. Every night, before turning  in, she imagined looking at the results on  her computer screen. She saw the word  ‘PASSED’ beside her name, and a feeling  of relief washed over her. Sure enough,  not only did she clear her exams, she even  secured an all-India rank!

Acting on inspiration received: In his  book Money Loves Speed, Joe Vitale writes  about how the Universe sends the same  idea to multiple people all over the planet.  This is because the creative force knows  that most people will be paralysed by their  conscious minds. Hence, they never get  around to acting on this idea. However, the  few who do act on it, are the ones who reap  the benefits and attract the success that the  idea inherently contains.  In hindsight, I had applied this principle in  my clinic manifestation. While I affirmed day  and night for my clinic to materialise, I did  not sit on my haunches, twiddling my thumbs.  Instead, I scoured all possible locations in  search of the best deal possible. One doctor  practising at my prospective clinic dissuaded  me by saying, “It’s a family polyclinic.” I did  not understand what he meant. I insisted on  meeting the owner, and I clinched the deal.  Later, I realised that I was an outsider while all  the other doctors belonged to a single family. I  just persisted based on my gut feeling, and my  clinic fructified.

Letting go: Divya Bajaj mentions that it’s  important to cede control of ‘how’ our miracle  will manifest and just let it all go forth with  total faith. Joe Vitale recommends that to  create miracles in our lives, we need to release  any attachment to the outcome. Hence, he  always completes his intention by adding  the words, “This or something better.” For  instance, when we state the desire for our  dream car, we welcome it by saying “This  or something better” to allow room for the  Universe to manifest the best for us.

The reasons why the manifestation process  fails

Wrong intention: Hitesh Vashisht warns  against the ‘greed trap.’ He says, “There’s a  place for all your needs in manifestation. This  means that whatever you need, it will surely  come to you. But there’s no place for your  greed. A need of Rs200 crores shall manifest  but a greed of Rs20,000 will not. So, before  you wish for something, check whether it’s  based on your need or your greed.”

Divya Bajaj warns against wishing for a car  to keep up with the Joneses. However, if  the car means that it adds to your comfort,  joy, and convenience, then it is a need based intention and will manifest for sure.

Joe Vitale distinguishes between ego intentions  and divine intentions in his book Expect  Miracles. Divine intentions contain within  them the desire for the larger good. They  stem from a wish to help others get what they  want and need. Such benevolent thoughts  will also get you what you want and need. A  win-win situation for all!

Desperation for the result: For most  of us, the desperation to achieve a certain  outcome ends up creating a distance  between us and our goal.

Hitesh Vashisht says, “One needs to be  effortless while manifesting. This means  one must create from the space of joy.  Our ancient scriptures mention ‘Anando  Brahma’ which means that the Creator is  always in Joy.”

The way to do this is by playing the  ‘Manifestation Game’ taught by Abraham  Hicks (the non-physical entity channelled  by Esther Hicks) in the book Ask and  It is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks.  Abraham suggests starting the sentence  with “Wouldn’t it be cool if I could drive  that red sports car? Wouldn’t it be great if  I could ski in the Swiss Alps? Wouldn’t it  be nice if I could meet Amitabh Bachchan  or Prime Minister Modi? These statements  signify that we are currently in a very happy  and fulfilled place, but the next milestone  can bring more joy to our lives.

Overpowering of faith by fear: “It’s easier  to go back to what we’ve known than it is to  struggle through unknown territory,” says  Joe Vitale.

I spoke to Faalguni Raja who conducts  workshops on DNA activation, karma,  and ancestral healing. She says people fail  because they love to suffer. At a subconscious  level, they like to choose the same vibe of  abuse as they have never experienced love.  They cannot trust that though a person  treats them well today, it will pan out just  as well tomorrow. Maybe they even love the  sympathy and attention that they garner  because of their suffering and would rather  exist in their mire.

Counter-intentions: Joe Vitale lists  counter-intentions dwelling in our  subconscious mind as the primary reason  why the manifestation process fails. In his  book Expect Miracles, Joe reveals that most of  us have an inner critic constantly talking in  the background. We are unable to forgive any  past mistakes and negative events that have  occurred in our lives. These provide fodder  for the emotionally charged negative stories  that we embed into our subconscious. Our  positive-thinking self says, “I can double my  income next year.” However, our inner critic  shoots it down by saying, “Hold your horses!  Remember that business you started five  years back that fell flat?” Thus, our inner  critic ends up neutralising or negating the  best of our intentions.

Joe Vitale also talks about limiting beliefs  that we learn from our parents or the  environment. Let’s assume I wish to become  a billionaire. However, if I have internalised  beliefs such as ‘All rich people are corrupt’ or  ‘Money is the root of all evil,’ I am sending  mixed signals to the Universe. This can undo  any manifestation work that I undertake to  achieve my billionaire dream.

Inaction: Ritika S Lalwani, a content  consultant and tarot card reader, feels that  though many people want a relationship,  they are not willing to take the requisite  action. If someone wants a committed  relationship, it is important to shut the door  on all the people who won’t commit to you.

One may also want to visit a matchmaker or a  single’s club to actively stay on the frequency  of one’s dream.

There, we have demystified the manifestation  process!

I leave you with the words of Lalah Delia, the  author of the book Vibrate Higher Daily: “When  you wake up to your power and snatch it back,  miracles happen.”
