The journey of love
Dear Reader,
Come February and the feeling of love begins to float in the air. The ones in love start planning to celebrate, and the ones not in it begin hoping of finding it in this month.
But the readers of Life Positive know that love is neither seasonal, nor fleeting, nor dependent on the other person. It is our very own nature. All spirituality is about reaching our core essence—unconditional love. This love is not a feeling but a state, a fragrance, and our natural rhythm. And it liberates us instead of enslaving us to people and their whims and fancies.
But unless we completely love and accept ourselves with all our strengths and frailties, it is not possible for us to experience the unceasing flow of this love in our hearts. When we truly love and respect ourselves, without judging, disrespecting, and condemning the other, we have blossomed into true, unconditional love.
The cover story for February is on standing up for ourselves.
Most of us falter in this area, and how we do it is a big measure of how far we have come in our quest for self-love. We either suppress ourselves due to our fears and conditionings or blow our fuse when faced with oppressive or manipulative people, giving them more ammunition.
Spiritual sadhana strengthens our inner self, making it easy for us to handle people who test our limits. It makes us believe in ourselves, trust our instincts and inner voice, recognise subtle or overt emotional violence, and then not give in to it.
We learn how to protect our boundaries without entering into bitter altercations and destroying our inner peace. It builds our sense of discrimination and makes only those who nourish us enter our world. In such a benign environment, our real, authentic, and loving self, easily and fearlessly emerges. Love is both a journey as well as a destination.
Have a happy February.
