The Vaayu Mudra
The Vaayu Mudra
The Vaayu Mudra is unique in that it treats all kinds of pain and other ailments too, says Abhaykumar Shah
The Vaayu Mudra, which reduces the Vaayu (air) Element in the body, is purely a therapeutic mudra and works as an instant painkiller.
Let us see how this is possible.
Cause of pain in the body:
The flow of Prana (life energy) in our body is made possible through the network of subtle channels. Whenever our body is subject to any injury, such as a fall or a hard knock, the Vaayu Element gets blocked in that region of the body. Accumulation of the Vaayu Element at the point of injury obstructs the flow of Prana. It is this hindrance in the flow which creates pain.
As the Vaayu Mudra reduces the Vaayu Element in the body, it removes the obstruction and re-establishes the energy flow, thereby easing the pain.
Method of forming Vaayu Mudra:
Connect the tip of the index finger to the root of the thumb. Now touch the inner side of the thumb with the back of the index finger. Apply little pressure. Keep the remaining three fingers comfortably straight.
Benefits:
The highest accumulation of Vaayu occurs during and after meals. It is suggested to perform Vaayu Mudra for at least 10 minutes immediately after taking meals. It reduces discomfort and bloating.
Most of the pains felt by the body, except headache, are caused due to the accumulation of Vaayu. All types of pains in the body can be treated by this mudra.
In the treatment of chronic diseases like sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, and spondylitis, the Vaayu Mudra plays a vital role. The regular and religious practice of this mudra, in combination with another mudra, can cure the same.
Even for a severe disease like Parkinsonism, the use of Vaayu Mudra, in combination with another mudra, can prove effective.
If the leg is sprained, performing Vaayu Mudra with the opposite hand and Samaan Mudra with the hand of the same side, kept on the very point of the pain, reduces the pain instantaneously. It is an experience of thousands of people.
Before and after lifting a heavy weight, one can support the move by practising Vaayu Mudra for five to 10 minutes. This will reduce the resultant ill effects.
Caution:
One can practise Vaayu Mudra every day for 10 to 16 minutes after meals. This mudra should not be practised for more than 16 minutes, without the advice of a mudra consultant.
Useful tip:
Vaayu Mudra performed in Vajrasana can enhance the benefits multifold.
