Towards the ultimate bliss

Review of Sat Chit Anand (Truth Consciousness Bliss), by Osho, Macmillan, Paperback, INR 599; 434 pages
Reading Osho is always a treat. His wisdom, often tongue-in-cheek, is laced with humour, his aphorisms flow like poetry and his take on any subject is startlingly refreshing.
Sat Chit Anand (Truth Consciousness Bliss) is no different. In fact, it is more so, as Osho responds to a variety of questions, within and beyond the parameters of this mantra, to reveal his unique insights on freedom and responsibility, creativity, and communication. Interwoven through all his answers is the timeless truth of satchitanand, quite like an eternal refrain, lacing each experience and thought with its essence.
Subtle, yet distinct experiences of the states of being present and that of no-mind are brought across beautifully when Osho says, “If you have experienced even a glimpse of no-mind, all questions will simply disappear”. The fountain of creativity arises out of this state, for it is the fulcrum of endless possibilities, an ocean of imagination and ideas.
The titles of the chapters are trademark Osho – irreverent, enigmatic and astute: ‘Seriousness is a sickness’, ‘condensed into two words – let go’, movement is always horizontal; growth is vertical’, ‘communication happens beyond the mind’.
The answers embrace a host of disciplines, ranging from metaphysics, psychology, physics and literature, to flow into one single, silent, subtle stream of consciousness that enlightens and awakens.
Beyond the inspired questions and Osho’s engaging answers, the book makes you think. Work though your own quagmires and experiences. Face your own self. Arrive at your own truths and solutions. And ultimately tap into the universal consciousness to reach the bliss within.
A must buy.
