Healing of the soul

By Life Positive

July 2010

I did not know what to expect when I went to the workshop on Soul Healing on a Sunday morning in Mumbai. From what I read, it resembled a type of energy healing but yet it did not come under that category. Through the daylong workshop I understood that along with energy balancing and movement, this technique also used meditation and invoking the help of higher beings.

Conducting the workshop was Patricia Smith, an advanced soul healer, along with Donna Fenyes. They were accompanied by Anna Jahns, Cordelia Francis, and Sunita Tamba, soul healers based in India. Patricia, a nurse by profession, healed herself from a serious accident and cancer through this technique, and has been learning and teaching it since. Master Zhi Gang Sha, the pioneer of Soul Healing, is a conventional medical doctor, doctor of Chinese medicine, master of tai chi, qi gong, feng shui and I Ching. He believes that current times call for a jump from the realm of mind over matter to soul over matter. His books, The Power of Soul, Soul Mind Body Medicine, Power Healing and Soul Communication are based on the varied aspects of this technique.

The technique affirms the fact that we all have the power to heal ourselves, and it accesses this power of soul to transform every aspect of our lives. “The soul, spirit, or being is the essence of our life. Heal the soul first then the mind and body will follow,” says Dr Sha. Healing the soul affects us on a cellular level, healing us from within.

In the Near Hand-Far Hand technique we were shown how to divert excess or stagnant energy from a painful or sore spot to the swadisthana or sacral chakra, which serves as an energy absorbent. The method involves first addressing the body, mind, soul of that part, giving it love and then asking it to heal itself. A participant who had undergone shoulder surgery, who could not lift his hand any higher than his waist, raised it all the way to the top after a few minutes of this treatment. The forgiveness practice we did was a meditation to release old blockages and negative messages that we have accumulated, leaving the entire group light and radiant. The soul songs played in between each exercise and after lunch helped stir up our energies and limbs, which can get quite stiff on sitting for long. These songs resonate with the spirit and help vitalise and purify the body, mind and soul. An exercise called Soul Conference allows one to resolve difficult situations on the soul level by offering unconditional love, gratitude and forgiveness to the persons and issues involved on a soul level. The corresponding changes on the physical level follow. Weekly Power of Soul groups are held in Mumbai, Delhi and Goa to practise these techniques. Master Sha will also be coming to India this year in November to hold workshops in various cities.
