The Quantum Doctor - A Physicist's Guide to Health and Healing, Author: Amit Goswami, Published By: Jaico Books, Paperback,Pages : 300, Rs. 295

Ever since the quantum theory took hold of the scientific imagination in the domain of physics – and spread outwards to all sciences, attempts have been made to integrate ‘quantum consciousness’ (notably by proponents like Deepak Chopra) into the hitherto purely materialistic realm of the sciences.

Dr. Amit Goswami, a leading quantum physicist, and a professor of physics at the Institute of Theoretical Sciences at the University of Oregon, has penned over seven books on quantum consciousness – with titles ranging from The Physics of the Soul to The Self-aware Universe.

In this book, he takes a deep dive into the world of medicine as he proposes ‘quantum’ consciousness as the prime mover and shaker of all illness and healing that we experience as human beings.

“Suppose we boldly recognise the healing power of consciousness … it has the requisite wisdom, and the mechanism for cure. It also has the power to discover what is needed, and it has the power to manifest the insight … by unblocking vital feeling at the appropriate chakra … and the correlated physical organs … which revives proper organ functions.”

So his sweeping definition of ‘science within consciousness’ becomes the unifying thread. He reinterprets conventional curative practices such as allopathy and alternative systems such as Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, homoeopathy, chakra and spiritual healing, drawing profound parallels from quantum physics and consciousness.

Goswami’s ‘Quantum Doctor’ may not have arrived yet in our local clinics, but his book opens the floodgates for the medical field – and for all of us interested in keeping fit in a holistic way – to re-evaluate the meaning of true health and ‘conscious’ well-being.
