Inversion Asana

To strengthen your limbs and relieve tension,  perform the Downward-Facing Dog Pose along with Kamala Venkat 

The Downward-Facing  Pose

Method  

Dog Pose also  forms an inverted ‘V.’

1. Start this pose by sitting  in Vajrasana. Then inhale  deeply and, placing your  palms on the mat, come to  the Table Top Pose. 

2. When you are balanced in  this pose, slowly breathe  out and lift your hips up  by straightening your  legs. Also, straighten your  arms by placing your  palms on the mat. Your  legs and hands should 

 

3. The gap between your  hands and the gap between  your legs should be equal  and parallel. Your head  should be facing down,  and you should gaze at  your navel. (Your head,  along with your hands and  legs, should be straight.) 

4. Hold the Downward  Dog Pose and take a few  deep inhalations and  exhalations. 

5. Then slowly place your  knees on the mat and  come back to the Table  Top Pose. Relax in Shvanasana. The word ‘adho’  is derived from the Sanskrit  word ‘adhas,’ which means  ‘down.’ ‘Mukha’ means  ‘face,’ ‘shvana’ means ‘dog,’  and ‘asana’ means ‘posture.’  Adho-Muhka Shvanasana  is an inversion asana, often  practised as part of Surya  Namaskar.
